Throwdown Lyrics

Moses came down from the hill
Holding the rules in his hand
Looked all around
Suddenly found
No one was listening

Now it's time to throw down

So throw down
Throw down
We throw down
Throw down

Jesus turned water to wine
The star in the sky was a sign
They called him a liar
You're not the messiah
Get out of the temple

Now it's time to throw down

So throw down
Yeah throw down
We throw down
Throw down

And then came a man i can't name
Because if i do I'll be maimed
They'll chop off my head
And then I'll be dead
You know who I'm talking about

It's time to throw down

So throw down
Yeah throw down
We throw down aaah
Throw down

All religions of the world today
We got to leave 'em alone
We got to use our fucking brains today
Before we're gone
Before we're gooone

RIGHT NOW!!!

The three of them fought in the rain
The world was completely insane
Sound the alarms
Nuclear bombs
You crazy motherfucker

It's time to throw down

So throw down
Yeah throw down
Throw down yeah
Throw down

This song talks about the three principle monotheistic religions in today’s world; Judiasm, Christianity and Islam. The first verse refers to Moses, the key figure of Judaism, the second refers to Jesus, the key figure of Christianity, and the third refers to Mohammad, the key figure of Islam.

The final two verses call for the abandonment (or ‘throwdown’) of all religions due to the conflicts that they inspire and the potential they have to cause greater destruction in the future.

I believe vs 3 refers to Jesus Christ and the days after the rapture (when Christ returns and calls all the true believers in Him to be with Him). After this time, the Anti-Christ will put to death all who refuse to bow to him. Therefore, any believers in Christ who come to faith in Him after the rapture will be put to death, possibly by beheading.

I appreciate the reference to Christ the Lord, but not the unneccary use of foul language. God is not to be mocked, and if the Bible is the true revealed Word of God (as I believe it is), then Jesus is the Son of God and one with God, therefore He is not to be mocked. Jesus is either as He claimed, the Son of God, a liar, or a madman. I believe Him to be the true, one and only, Son of God who sacrificed Himself as a perfect sacrifice for all of our sins, thereby restoring us all to fellowship with God the Father if we will simply confess we are sinners, unable to make amends to for our sins, and accept Jesus sacrificial death on the cross for our sins thereby restoring us all to fellowship with God the Father.

As to all of the other religions of the world, they can't all be right. Jesus said He is the only way to the Father. If all are right, then He is wrong. I place my faith in Him! He did miracles that were witnessed on earth and were among the reasons He was put to death. Read the gospel of John and believe! It is the power of God to call and to save - look to Him and pray for His Truth to be revealed to you!

Song Meaning

I’m terribly sorry, but I’m afraid your interpretation of this song may not be the same as most people’s. It’s also notable that Tenacious D are not typically a ‘religious’ band and thus the message they intended to portray could not be further from your own understanding of the song. In fact the song is more a promotion of anti-theistic ideals than it a promotion of your personal brand of theism.

You started your comment with "I believe" and you couldn't be farther from the truth. Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed, the big three prophets of the Abrahamic religions and how those religions are all not-true and dangerous. They cause horrible problems in the world due to the fact that they believe in fairy tales. Please just contemplate the fact that you are telling us to read an ancient book (with obviously impossible events) that has been edited and lost in translation for over one thousand years and believe it to be fact. Blind Faith is not a virtue, it is denial...
