White Stones

Can you believe?
Why can't you see the pain in their eyes,
the horrors in their lives?
Stones in the meadow lined up row by row,
as far as the eye can see,
reaching out for you
The pictures in my mind
are all that I have left
A scene of what I've seen
A tear becomes a smile
I hold these white stones in my hands
I hear them talk to me,
or is it just a dream,
a dream within a dream?
Memories of the past racing through my head
The last time that I saw your eyes
is etched upon my mind
Tears of sorrow, tears of pain
streaming down my face again
I long not to forget
these memories I have of you
