I'm still alive but I'm barely breathin'
Just prayed to a God that I don't believe in
'Cause I got time while she got freedom
'Cause when a heart breaks, no, it don't break even

Her best days will be some of my worst
She finally met a man that's gonna put her first
While I'm wide awake, she's no trouble sleepin'
'Cause when a heart breaks, no, it don't break even, even, no

What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you? And
What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up that you're okay?
I'm fallin' to pieces, yeah
I'm fallin' to pieces

They say bad things happen for a reason
But no wise words gonna stop the bleedin'
'Cause she's moved on while I'm still grievin'
And when a heart breaks, no, it don't break even, even, no

And what am I going to do when the best part of me was always you? And
What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up that you're okay?
I'm fallin' to pieces, yeah
I'm fallin' to pieces, yeah
I'm fallin' to pieces
(One still in love while the other one's leavin')
I'm fallin' to pieces
('Cause when a heart breaks, no, it don't break even)

Oh, you got his heart and my heart and none of the pain
You took your suitcase, I took the blame
Now I'm tryna make sense of what little remains, oh
'Cause you left me with no love and no love to my name

I'm still alive but I'm barely breathin'
Just prayed to a God that I don't believe in
'Cause I got time while she got freedom
'Cause when a heart breaks, no, it don't break
No, it don't break, no, it don't break even, no

What am I gonna do when the best part of me was always you? And
What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up that you're okay?
(Oh, that you're okay now)
I'm fallin' to pieces, yeah
I'm fallin' to pieces (oh, I'm fallin', fallin') yeah
I'm fallin' to pieces
(One still in love while the other one's leavin')
I'm fallin' to pieces
('Cause when a heart breaks, no, it don't break even)

Oh, it don't break even, no
Oh, it don't break even, no
Oh, it don't break even, no

    My Interpretation

Has noone pointed out this lyric:

"Her best days will be some of my worst She finally met a man that's gonna put her first While I'm wide awake she's no trouble sleeping Coz when a heart breaks no it don't break even, even no"

I agree with everyone. She was his everything and now she's moving on clearly a lot easier than he is. Did anyone think why??

I've come to the conclusion that he wasn't appreciating his girlfriend and took her for granted. He broke her down during their relaitonship and she had enough. She left, he's crushed, but she left because of his lack of attention for her. She's moved onto someone that's going to look after her properly.

My relationship at the moment but I don't know if it'll change cuz my bf blames everything on me I feel guilty then about even thinking bad things.

We all apply songs to our own lives, our own interpretations. That's what I love about music.. and the lyrics.

I think this song is about how when a relationship ends one person in the relationship is more upset about it than the other person..so the heart break is uneven in the sense that one person suffers more heartache. Love this song :)

i think this song is absolutely beautiful. It really reminds me of the book Eclipse. In that, the main character has two people in love with her, her best friend, and the man she believes is her soul mate. At the end of it all, she chooses the latter, leaving her best friend, jacob, absolutely broken. It's all about how when a relationship ends and you still love the perosn, but they just seem to have got over you so quickly. it really captures the sense of desperation when youre in this kind of position e.g. i just prayed to a god i dnt believe in" but yeh, thats what i think

    Memory

It reminds me of exactly what happened with me and my bf. We broke up and he's fine with some other girl and there's nothing i can do.

What am I gonna do when the best part of me was always you?

So true, when you love someone there part of you and in your eyes the best part.

In my opinion thats lyrics genius

I'm praying to a God i dont believe in

Just prayed to a god that I don't believe in

Perfect. I feel like i can completely relate to this song. Lyrically amazing.

    My Opinion

"I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing, Just prayed to a god that I don't believe in" Right off the bat The Script punches some powerful lyrics. Some breakups feel so painful that they feel like they could die (still alive but barely breathing) people are desperate for comfort (praying to a god that I don't believe in). This is an amazing song especially if you have felt the emotions it contains. "what am I supposed to say, when I'm all choked up that you're okay?" Sometimes seeing the that other person has happily moved on so quickly makes you wonder if you ever really meant anything to them at all. If you did, why don't they feel the same pain that you feel for them. Amazing song!!!!

I think because when she's having her best days, he is knowing that she is having it without him, that he isn't part of her best days. Which makes him sad :(

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
