This song is all about the life before he new god.
how could I ever go back... (to living the life he was brofe he had God) back to the life where i lived amongst the dead (the dead are those how are spiritual dead not complete without God) but your love has set me free (refering to Gods unfailing love and forgiveness) how could i go back to live amongst the dead those who imprisoned beauty (living a life where ppl refused to aknowlege that God exists. I never want to leave your arms so i wait in hope for your embrace (the embrace of God / being close to him)
I think everybody's right. But some people can be wrong too. I have accepted the fact that it's about God, though at the same time it has to be a little bit more complicated than that. I mean, do you speak about God like this: I never want to leave your arms so i wait in hope for your embrace illusions of what i thought was love ? Okay, I do agree it might be a metaphor or such, but still, there has to be a reason why he makes it sound like it's about love, as in love for a girlfriend, or friend, whatever, everything but God. And I also think, that some of you should be a little more accepting. It's not like there's only one meaning or solution, we all see things in a different way. We're not searching the meaning this song has to the band, anyway, I'm still answering the question; What does this song mean to you? (Though quite off-topic now. er.) My thoughts about this song are rather divided. I guess that beyond everything it's about God, but if you watch more closely, there has to be a relationship on his mind. Or something like that. x

The ending seems like him not regretting letting go of his past girlfriend. "illusions of what i thought was love now i have clear sight to see that i have left nothing behind." I'm probably way off though im not too good at ?interpretating? song meanings.
