this song is one of my favorite bon jovi songs ever. it's amazing. and no. it's not about falling in love. jon said on american idol that it's about how he is really madly in love with this girl. he's cried so much over her. he has alot of pain because their not together anymore. and this is really a love song. BUT if he hasn't cried as much as he has, if he isn't still in love with this girl, then it isn't a love song.

What's so great about this song is that it IS a love song.
He still loves her, he's cried rivers, and he's in a pain. If those things aren't true, then "This ain't a love song." But they are true, and so it is.
It's about the end of a relationship and thinking back. The memories and frustrations that things didn't work out. It's a good song but the rest of the album is better

Its like when you fall in love with someone, but after some time, your love and everything you put into it isn't enough, and they start believing you dont love them or aren't into the relationship anymore. I think some people fall out of love, and instead of facing it and taking the responsibility for their own feelings, they try to blame the other person and use them as the excuse to end the relationship. This song reminds makes me think of that
