Ode to the Lonely Heart Lyrics
Please stay awake till the end of the night
When nothing's of the wrong
Please stay awake till I can find
The reason and the crime
Though I've seen of their happiness
I can only be down
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted
These broken dreams are not what they seem
They're so much more than this
I can't see how she won't think now
Of everything we'll miss
All the words that have gone before
May as well have been known
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted
Go take your soul make an ode to the lonely hearted
I know it's a real live story
But there's so little time
I know it's a real nice story
But it's easy to find
These cigarettes weren't really the thing
They're just to ease my mind
I wonder so if she'll ever know
Of all we've left behind
Of the thirty one dreams we've had
Thirty one were my own
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted
When nothing's of the wrong
Please stay awake till I can find
The reason and the crime
I can only be down
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted
They're so much more than this
I can't see how she won't think now
Of everything we'll miss
May as well have been known
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted
Go take your soul make an ode to the lonely hearted
But there's so little time

Make an ode to the lonely hearted
Go take your soul
Make an ode to the lonely hearted

This song might have the most incorrect lyrics written on the internet I've ever seen, also has a lot of difficult to understand lyrics, here's how I hear them, tell me where I'm wrong! This song in my opinion is about a guy that was jealous over a girl, and when he finally had her, he was so in love with her that he smothered her and she died from some reason and he's completely heart-broken now because he realized what he has done and how he wishes he "shared" love instead of just pouring it all on her.

the rythem of this song is quite to the heart, and it's about to give up or go on.
i like the way marks voice sounds when he sings these cigarettes wont relieve a thing theyre just to ease my mind. it has a flutter thing im not sure i just like it :)
this song is really easy to play on my guitar, so im always playing it. i love the lyrics and i love singing them.
In a nutshell: I think this song is about unrequited love. He's been in a relationsip with someone and it's meant something more to him than to the object of his affections. He's been dumped and is heart broken and he's wondering if they ever realized how much they meant to them. Great line about the cigarettes, best reason for smoking I've ever heard!
