Every morning there's a halo hangin' from the corner
Of my girlfriend's four-post bed
I know it's not mine but I'll see if I can use it
For the weekend or a one-night stand

Couldn't understand
How to work it out
Once again as predicted, left my broken heart open
And you ripped it out

Something's got me reelin'
Stopped me from believin'
Turn me around again
Said that we can do it
You know I wanna do it again

(Sugar Ray say)
Oh
(Every morning) oh
(Every morning when I wake up)
(Shut the door, baby, don't say a word)
Oh (she always rights the wrong)
Oh (she always rights, she always rights)
(Shut the door, baby, shut the door, baby)

Every morning there's a heartache hanging from the corner
Of my girlfriend's four-post bed
I know it's not mine and I know she thinks she loves me
But I never can believe what she said

Something so deceivin'
When you stop believin'
Turn me around again
Said we couldn't do it
You know I wanna do it again

Oh
(Every morning) oh
(Every morning when I wake up)
(Shut the door, baby, don't say a word)
Oh
(Every morning) oh
(Every morning when I wake up)
(Shut the door, baby, shut the door, baby)

She always rights the wrong
For me, baby
She always rights the wrong
For me

Every morning there's a halo hangin' from the corner
Of my girlfriend's four-post bed
I know it's not mine but I'll see if I can use it
For the weekend or a one-night stand
(Shut the door, baby, don't say a word)

Every morning
Every morning when I wake up
(Shut the door, baby, shut the door, baby)
Every morning
Every morning (turn me around again)
(Shut the door, baby, don't say a word)
Every morning
(Do it again)
Every morning when I wake up
Every morning
(Shut the door, baby, shut the door)
Every morning when I wake up

definitely reminds me of good times and summertime!

i never thought of the halo as a condom. i always thought of it as the boyfriend admitting that the girl is so much better, nicer, and more angelic (the halo) than him. Basically, he's using her for sex and he sorta feels bad about it, but they both know it and don't care. I didn't think about it as referring to cheating at all.

Whenever he says "Shut the door" I believe it's a double entendre meant to sound like "Je t'adore," or I love you in French.

Also, the condom idea makes sense, but I always thought of it as if the girlfriend is an angel when she chooses to be, but she takes off her halo in bed (the general consensus is cheating). When he says he wants to borrow the halo, he wants to use it to make him look like an angel, almost like making puppy-dog eyes, to get her to forgive him for cheating on her. That's my take on it.

I don't believe the "halo" is a condom at all. The halo is strictly symbolic, there is nothing really hanging from her four post bed (just as later in the song there is no heartache hanging there).

The halo hanging there refers to her being naughty, like an Angel has fallen from grace (her escapades in the bed). He understands what the halo symbolizes, so he thinks maybe he can use it to do to someone else what it has done to him.

"something's got me reeling, stopped me from believing" He's stopped believing in her and what the halo represents. "Turn me around again" He wants her to convince him, to make him believe, to stop his head from spinning, because he wants to do it again.

"She always right the wrongs for me" She always convinces him to believe, even if it is only while they are sleeping together.

"Shut the door baby, don't say a word" He wants to continue with his fantasy that she loves and wants him. He wants to believe in her at least for the time being, and let her right the wrongs (convince him and prove it sexually), even though when they aren't doing it, his mind reels and he can't believe her.

"Every Morning there's a heartache hanging from the corner of my girlfriend's four-post bed. I know it's not mine and I know she thinks she loves me but I never can believe what she said." As the halo was hers, the heartache is hers, too. She thinks she loves him so she feels heartache for how she's treated him. That's why she says they can't do it again.

"Something so deceiving, when you STOP believing" (Big mistake in the lyrics posted on this site, it says "when you START believing.) This refers back to the earlier lyrics when he said "something's got me reeling, stopped me from believing." Here, he realizes how deceiving it is to pretend like he believes her, when he really doesn't anymore. He's deceiving himself and her.

"Turn me around again. Said we couldn't do it, You know I wanna do it again" He wants her to take it all away, to turn back the clock, to turn him around again emotionally. And even though he recognizes she said they can't do it anymore, he still wants to. His passion for her is overriding his logic.

    That's my take on it.

The song is about his girl cheating on him. The "halo" is a reference to her cheating being validated somehow and how he wants to have that privilege. It's also talking about how everytime he goes to leave her, she sweet talks him back and he falls for it constantly.

this song is about a girl cheating on a bloke and sweet talking him into staying with her whenever he gets proof...also the last 'halo' in this song isnt actually halo...it says 'every morning there's a heatache hanging from my girlfriend's four post bed' saying that everytime he sees the halo it breaks his heart just a little bit more every morning when he walks in

    My Interpretation

I watched the video that gbxdl recommended, and although it is making fun of the song... it makes sense. His interpretation, at least. He's saying that there's a halo hanging on the girl's bed every morning because she DIDN'T cheat on her boyfriend, but the guy wants to borrow the halo (which is not his because he is not so angelic) to get away with cheating on her. Basically a song about being a jerk. I think this makes just as much sense as the other interpretation that the girl is cheating... either way, great song!

    Well here's my idea:

Every morning there's a halo hanging from the corner of my girlfriend's four post bed I know it's not mine but I'll see if I can use it for the weekend or a one night stand

(The halo is her pretending to be innocent despite having cheated on him the night before, and he's considering cheating on her in her very own bed just to get revenge).

Couldn't understand how to work it out Once again as predicted left my broken heart open And you ripped it out Something's got me reeling Stop me from believing Turn me around again Said that we can do it You know I want to do it again

(He doesn't really know how to work it out so he just leaves himself open to get hurt. Something's got him reeling is his GF continuing to somehow bring him back to him even through all the hurt she causes him. Do it could mean get back together work things out or just last, but maybe he's just referring to having sex.)

sugarezay Every morning Every morning when I wake up Shut the door baby, don't say a word She always rights the wrong She always rights She always rights Shut the door baby Shut the door baby

(Again every morning meaning just all the time. She's writing how he's doing something that's wrong yet she's controlling it, and the shut the door baby is the guy she's cheating on him with.)

Every morning there's a heartache hanging from the corner of my girlfriend's four post bed I know it's not mine and I know she thinks she loves me but I can never believe what she's said

(The heartache could be just she's always going with other guys or she feels guilty about cheating on him. She thinks she loves him, but he knows she doesn't and can't believe it 'cause she can't love one guy.)

Something so deceiving when you start believing Turn me around again Said we couldn't do it You know I want to do it again

(It's deceiving that he's convinced into believing her and the more he does, the more deceiving it gets. Again the do it part).

Every morning Every morning when I wake up Shut the door baby, don't say a word Every morning Every morning every morning shut the door baby Shut the door baby

(Same thing, always happens, another guy who she's cheating on him with is talking).

She always rights the wrong For me, baby She always rights the wrong For me

(She puts thoughts into his mind that rationalizes staying with him yet it's wrong).

Every morning there's a halo hanging from the corner of my girlfriend's four post bed I know it's not mine but I'll see if I can use it for the weekend or a one night stand

    (Same as before).

Shut the door baby don't say a word Every morning Every morning when I wake up Shut the door baby, don't say a word Every morning

    (Again same as before).

    (repeat to fade)

    Song Meaning

I think it means that HE will eventually cheat on HER "I know its not mine, but I'll see if I can use it for a weekend or a one-night stand" os he has already "theres a heartache hanging from the corner of my girlfriends four-post bed" and he knows he's guilty and so does she but he's trying to lie to her "I know its not mine but I'll see if I can use it."

I think it means he wants to have sex with her, and she let him go that far once, but now she doesn't want to do it anymore. Kind of understand? Like Every morning there's a halo hanging from the corner of my girlfriend's four post bed - every morning when he wakes up and she's got her second virginity again, the halo being her innocence and goodness. I know it's not mine but I'll see if I can use it for the weekend or a one night stand-He wants to have it, but it's hers and he cant have sex with her if she doesnt want to.

Couldn't understand how to work it out-how to get her to do it again Once again as predicted left my broken heart open And you ripped it out-she did it, but doesn't want to. Something's got me reeling Stop me from believing-he thinks he can get her to do it. Turn me around again Said that we can do it You know I want to do it again- self explanatory

Shut the door baby, don't say a word- sexual reference She always rights the wrong- makes him "be good" and not have sex. She always rights She always rights Shut the door baby Shut the door baby

Every morning there's a heartache hanging from the corner of my girlfriend's four post bed-it hurts her that they did it. I know it's not mine and I know she thinks she loves me but I can never believe what she's said-told him they couldnt do it anymore.

Something so deceiving when you start believing- gets it, and cant have it anymore Turn me around again Said we couldn't do it-she said no. You know I want to do it again

    Song Meaning

I can only go with the used condom theory as the only way it could make sense.

It is a song about a guy who keeps finding obvious evidence that his girlfriend is cheating on him even though she "loves" him. He gets upset, doesn't know what he should be doing (how to handle it properly) so instead uses the fact as an excuse to 'get permission' to cheat on her too. This goes on until they want to get back together (give it another chance) and she "rights the wrong" (makes it right) in some way, so then he keeps taking her back again and the process repeats. The undertone "Shut the door babe, don't say a word" is probably referencing that they are probably not addressing the underlying cheating issues with each other ("don't say a word") because they just have make up sex instead ("Shut the door babe"... An euphemism for having sex as many couples shut their bedroom door before sex for extra privacy).

Sorry I don't normally read too much into things but if you listen to this song without this interpretation then it just doesn't make any sense.

It is a nice summer tune more than anything.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
