I feel this song was written by Michael Hutchence about his relationship with Kylie Minogue. In the doco Mystify, there is footage of Michael and Kylie picking cherries together. MH awakened KM to different pleasures, ie “show me”. He later ended their relationship as evidenced in the lines, “ she was found in the gutter with a knife in her back...” MH was the lover with danger in his eyes, he was a wild child.

Perhaps KM later responded with her song, Cherry Bomb.

@Geminigirl I disagree. The story is that she was a backup singer who he interviewed that met that fate.
