Be Somebody Lyrics

I'm just the boy inside the man, not exactly who you think I am
Trying to trace my steps back here again, so many times
I'm just a speck inside your hand, you came and made me who I am
I remember where it all began, so clearly

I feel a million miles away, still you connect me in your way
And you created me, something I would've never seen
When I can only see the floor, you made my window a door
So when they say they don't believe, I hope that they see you in me
After all the lights go down, I'm just the words you are the sound
A strange type of chemistry, how you've become a part of me
And when I sit alone at night, your thoughts burn through me like a fire
You're the only one who knows, who I really am

We all want to be somebody, we just need a taste of who we are
We all want to be somebody, we're willing to go but not that far

And we're all see through, just like glass
And we can shatter just as fast
That light's been burned out for a while, I still see it every time I pass
It was lost in the coldness of my mind, behind a box of reasons why
I never doubted it was there, just took a little time to find
(And even when)

I feel a million miles away, still you connect me in your way
And you created me, something I would've never seen
When I can only see the floor, you made my window a door
So when they say they don't believe I hope that they see you in me
After all the lights go down, I'm just the words you are the sound
A strange type of chemistry, how you've become a part of me
And when I sit alone at night, your thoughts burn through me like a fire
You're the only one who knows, who I really am

We all want to be somebody, we just need a taste of who we are
We all want to be somebody, we're willing to go but not that far
We all want to be somebody, we just need a taste of who we are
We all want to be somebody, we're willing to go but not that far

I'm just the boy inside the man, not exactly who you think I am
Trying to trace my steps back here again, so many times
When I can only see the floor, you made my window a door
So when they say they don't believe, I hope that they see you in me

This is such a great song! Probably the best I've heard so far on the new album. To me, this is about how people wish they could become something someone in life but they don't try hard enough, so God backs them up and helps them become that someone and/or something. I could be wrong, but to me that sounds about right.

So all the comments on here are about God, which is fine, but I wanted to post what I see this song as from a non-religious point of view. It's similar in some aspects so bear with me.

Everyone has dreams or ideas of what they want, but only a fraction ever reach them because as people we either don't believe we can make it, don't have the courage or motivation or are afraid of failing.

"You're the only one who knows, who I really am" This is one of the strongest lines I feel. That one person, friend, family, lover or peer who understands us more than anyone else does. They give us that push, they give us that motivation or courage. As the song says, they make your window a door.

The chorus, this is the part that kicks most, more than most other choruses in songs. It reaches everyone, no matter their past, dreams, heritage, culture. It's the same for everyone, we all need to know who we really are, we all need to go further than we are comfortable than doing.

This song, as I see it, is about acknowledging that person, and where they have helped you get or what they are helping you go for. It's that type of song where the first time you hear it, you wanna sing, like you've known it for years.

depends on how you thoughts of the song, this song may link to the God

quote "second paragraph" this more likely to represent God because the singer said this person created him, teaching/tell him the way "When I can only see the floor, you made my window a door" also how he feel that that God has become part of him even know God is a myth. just like weird chemical bound.

But also this song can be see at a love couple "true love", the singer said that he just like a kid in adult body which suggest that everyone else don't really understand him. then he said that everyone wan't to be someone else who better, lucky, special but we need to relied who you really are, we willing to be like that other person but we not willing to completely change (because is not you, that is not who you really are). but his partner always understand who he is and completed him. so he want to show that you don't have to be that other person but rather get someone to completed you, who understand you.

Last thoughts:"I'm just a speck inside your head" this song might be about relied who you really are, that another person inside of you. sometime you will feel like someone always asking you about your decisions that you has made, sometime you forgot about that person but you still feel it because you still have consciousness. and like before you try to be somebody else not your own. that little consciousness is you, is who you are.

My thoughts on this song is that it’s about a couple who were together for so long and A tragedy happened and one of them didn’t make it and they were just reliving every single moment that they had with that person for instance where it says (I feel a million miles away, still you connect me in your way) I feel like it’s saying there in the afterlife and they still feel connected to that person and the sad part to me is where it says (We all wanna be somebody, we just need a taste of who we are We all wanna be somebody, we're willing to go but not that far) to me it means that without that person in there life that they spent there whole life with they don’t know who they are anymore without them and they were willing to go to them but couldn’t for reasons only they would know hence (not that far)

To me it seems, like a tale of a reincarnation of lovers. Bound to a single body yet only one gets to truly "Remember". It seems a tale of sorrow.

It brings me the ancient tale of adam and eve. We made a mistake and we're paying for it.

God reminded me that relying on Him is enough. It's a love song to GOD..

Knowing TFK is a Christian band and reading the lyrics, how anyone interprets this song as anything other than religious is beyond me.

Technically, you can apply the lyrics to whatever you want. But, it likely won't be what the song is "about".

This is clearly a worship type song. The line " I feel a million miles away, still you connect me in your way, and you created me, something I would've never seen." That is clearly a Christian line, because God Created the human race.

To all those on the forum bashing on religious opinions about this song this is mainly directed toward you.

Thousand foot krutch is a well known CHRISTIAN rock band which means that more likely than not this song is patially if not completely religiously influenced. That means:

1 by bashing on people who are pointing out a religious meaning behind a song you are directly bashing the belief of the artist and tainting the meaning and emotional worth of the song

2 freedom of speech actually means turnabout is fair play (you have the right to say what you want but also so does everyone else which means that by bashing on a religious viewpoint actually opens you up to having your posts bashed by hundreds of millions of people, in other words pick your verbal fights wisely because every group of people is willing to back up their belief)

I myself am a Christian, and I am asking that people of every background stop bashing on eachothers beliefs, it will lead to nothing but pain, anger, suffering and destruction. I of course can't stop you because that is not right but I can say that every belief system has their own end to it all even atheists and agnostics, and when the universe stops ticking in the way it should things will turn sour and I will step out and say that beyond a shadow of a doubt the attacks taken out on eachother will lead to a self caused end to an Era. And now you can't say you haven't been warned.
