I am more than pleased to comment this amazing song first. I saw the commentars in youtube and am not agreed this is a song about vampires. In my opinions, the vampire smile is a methaphore of a someone dangerous who met someone good. The woman in this song is dangerous and bad. She is a seducer that knows how this relation gonna end. Yet, she wants the guy, who is ignoring her, but she knows he will eventually become her lover. She will drink his blood and kill his friends- I think this mean she will possess him and she will not let any woman to have him.The woman, or the so called vampire smile is also a paper doll, which means she is plastic enough, to make this man hers. She is saying- hey, am bad, you ignoring me makes me even more crazy about you, but I will get you, even if i have to be a paper doll in your hands. As for the ghost she mentions, these are the people she was with before, but they dont exist anymore, because this woman wants this men and she will have him.
@Persephone28 I like the first two ideas here but I read into it very differently... I saw it as the opposite. I feel that the girl and the guy are potentially house mates... she is besotted and very much in love with the guy. But he just sees it as casual sex.

To me, the heroine of this song is not necesarily a plastic and shallow seducer. She might be a troubled woman with a darker side to her, a destructive personality that makes it impossible to have a 'normal' relationship. But she can't help herself and she wants this man, knowing at the same time she is going to bring him down, cut off his friendships. I agree with Persephone28 - it can't be about vampires, I bet the meaning is metaphorical. There is this term 'emotional vampire' aka someone who's toxic in a relationship and I think this song might refer to that.
