The Rapture (Fear Is A Mind Killa Mix) Lyrics

I see you lingering around
Like a bad idea

Peddling salvation
Threatening damnation

About to drop you like Cain
Like Cain dropped Abel
About to drop you like Cain
Like Cain dropped Abel

You're no medium
Just the scum on the shallow end of assumption
Time to come correct Son

Rapture my ass
You better hope he takes you
Before I do

About to drop you like Cain
Like Cain dropped Abel
About to drop you like Cain
You better hope he takes you

About to drop you like Cain
I had enough of your voodoo
About to drop you like Cain
You better hope he takes you

Up the Sodom
You're Gomorrah
Delivering redemption
Feel my resurrection

About to drop you like Cain
Like Cain dropped Abel
About to drop you like Cain
You're gonna hope he takes you

About to drop you like Cain
I've had enough of your voodoo
About to drop you like Cain
You're gonna hope he takes you
Before I do

Unlike most of maynards work, this one is pretty easy to figure out imo.
Its about him killing all the rodents/vermin etc that are eating & destroying his vineyards in Az. In the doc Blood into Wine, he talks about what a pain in the ass & all the trouble those creatures cause.

I think this song is probably directed at Harold Camping and just in general everyone who ever talks about the End Times. I never even think about that dumb shit i imagine Maynard doesn't either: thats reasonable and logical thinking. Look up this asshole HAROLD CAMPING Back in 94 he made a public prediction of ''rapture'' and again in 2011 sayin itd be on may 21 6pm he's the next fool martyr is what he is (thats a eulogy reference to the layperson)

My Interpretation

I just checked this Pusifer stuff out today, I think its pretty cool. Maynard wrote lyrics that are kinda like rap but ACTUALLY badass lyrics not like all that pussy simple shit all over pop radio stations These illiterate apes like Drake are gettin rich cause theres too many dumbfucks that dont know what good music is.

I'm thinking its more like that moment when somebody decides to murder somebody.Like you've waited and waited for somebody to straighten out but this time its just too much and you've decided your going to murder them. I mean not just murder them but MURDER them, Cain was I the first murderer in the bible. He invented murder, so when I hear it, to me it sounds like I'm not just going to murder you, I'm re-inventing the whole idea of murder and setting a new standard with you.

To me, this song seems like being fed up with Christianity. The whole May 21 crap, rapture, ect. I'm going to drop you like Cain dropped Able is a biblical reference to Cain and Able who were Adam and Eve's sons. Sometimes I want to drop people like Cain dropped Able.

Maynard's singing in this song is just amazing.

The part when he sings "rapture my ass, you better hope he takes you, before I do" is magical.

I also believe that this is one of his more straight forward songs. Most likely about murder like was already mentioned.

About to drop you like Cain dropped Abel. Time to come, collection.

I play Sodom, you're Gomorrah

I'd be surprised if this song ISN'T about Harold Camping, altho this applies to all types and degrees of doomsday cult followers.

To me, this sounds like Maynard's hatred to a religious leader, perhaps a higher up like the pope, or a cult leader etc. Or perhaps the personification of Christianity itself. Or it could be the perspective of a Christian towards another religion... Oddly it fits perfectly to the storyline of the new Dexter series from Dexter's perspective towards DDK.

He isn't Catholic. In fact, he was raised Baptist by his mother and that's so different from Catholicism. (He would know too little about the Pope to honestly 'hate" him.) Maynard had a hard life which could possibly have involved some form of abuse. He handled it with music and comedy. I bet he's one complex man, as well as one obviously talented one. His fire and brimstone lyrics seem very Baptist to me:)

The line "Peddling salvation" is actually "Echoing salvation".

Lyric Correction

It's definitely "peddling"

Okay, the only lyric that doesn't make sense here is "Up the Sodom, you're Gomorrah," because Sodom and Gomorrah were both cities. You don't say "THE Sodom," you just say "Sodom."

Because of that, I think he's actually singing "Up to Sodom, you're Gomorrah delivering redemption," which makes a lot more sense. He's saying, "Here you are, going 'up to Sodom' and saying YOU'RE going to deliver redemption when you (Gomorrah) are just as f***ed." This whole song is about hypocrisy in religion (think Westboro Baptist Church) so I think this makes way more sense.

Lyric Correction

Sodom can also be taken as "anal sex", by him saying 'Up the Sodom" (IMO)

"Fuck you in the ass, you're just as evil"

and I think its not just about religion being horrid or hypocritical, but more so about people who keep popping up in media saying "the rapture is upon us", and how people are following blindly giving up homes, jobs and families to follow these wackos.

and maybe he's making a funny remark saying "you better hope he takes you before I do" and "Drop you like Cain" pretty much...
