Edge of the Earth

It's about aliens. He talks about hearing the lights touch the ground. Which is the ships landing. He sits in the desert (Area 51) waiting for them to land. He knew he could not be drugged, meaning he knew what he was seeing was real and not because he was high. The silhouette in the light was an alien coming out of the ship. The last verse of him walking away is him leaving with them and he starts understanding the gravity of his choice as he leaves the atmosphere and becomes weightless. That's all the secret he has become and he can't find a way out of knowing it.

I think the song is about being intoxicated (by alcohol or any other drug) and finding yourself during a moment of grace. In this case they speak of the desert and it feels like your at the edge of the earth. Your stress an inner pain is released, and the secret is understanding yourself and life in itself better at that moment.

I think one of the reasons I interpreted this song like so is because I have many times felt that I was in a similar situation.

I agree with everyone else’s interpretation completely. There is a little bit of ambiguity to the lyrics so it allows everyone to interpret it differently.

When I listen to the song it sounds like a man who’s contemplating taking his life. It seems like he feels disconnected from the world and is having a somewhat surreal, intoxicated, out of body experience. He doesn’t want to rely on medication, and he feels as though he has run out of options. The more he thinks about taking his life the more it seems to make sense to him. His secret is that he’s suicidal and doesn’t want to inform anyone. The light encounter he refers to is almost like his encounter with an angel or death. “Calm as the wind you’ll watch me go.”

I just found this band the other day and fell in love with em. Mainly because of their complex lyrics like this. This is my favorite song on the album. I'm prob wrong but it sounds like he can see another world or something/someone from another world like aliens or something? haha great song and band regardless

In my opinion it talks about being in a relationship and finding a perfect moment inside something simple such as laying with the loved one staring at the stars, to you they look brilliant because of how you're feeling at that point. Then talks about him breaking up with her after she misunderstood the boundaries of the relationship. Then he talks about being alone being under the influence in his car doing the same thing, but finding no perfect moment because that persons gone, almost like he regrets the decision. Ah well. Just taking a shot.
