The Sun Lyrics

Here it comes,
The unavoidable sun
Where's my head,
And what the hell have I done,
And you know,
I don't remember a thing
I don't remember
A thing

So I'm dumb,
Am I placating the notes?
Should I fold?
Cut off my tongue
So you say
Apparently I'm digging it in
I can't feel
A thing

[A thing, a thing, a thing, a thing]

And you've won
So I go bury my head
In the ground
Yeah I will lose what I said
In the sound of the words and the numb that it brings
Now I can't feel
A thing

Here it comes
The unavoidable sum
Of what's just happened
And what's been done
And you know
I don't remember a thing
I don't remember
A thing

But it keeps on coming and I stop
But it keeps on coming and I just stand still
But it keeps on coming and I stop moving
[But it keeps coming, it keeps coming, it keeps coming]

But it keeps on coming and I stop
And it keeps on coming and I just stand still
[But it keeps coming, it keeps coming, it keeps coming]

But it keeps on coming and I stop
And it keeps on coming and I just stand still
But it keeps coming and I just stop
So I stop running and I just stop
But it keeps on coming and I just stop moving
But it keeps on coming and it keeps on coming so I just stand still
But it keeps on coming and I just stand still

And I run, and I run, and I run, and I run.

I've always thought this song is about a heavy night of drinking. The first stanza he's waking up the next morning with a bad hangover and doesn't really remember what happened. In the second, he's regretting everything he did and is beating himself up over it. In the third, he's talking about some drunken argument he got into with a friend/lover and admits that he pretty much lost the fight since he said everything while drunk, but then at the end adds "yet I won't lose what I said" meaning in some sense he's glad he finally said whatever he was feeling even if it means he lost that person. And the end I think is his conscience attacking him, but he's becoming numb to it and just running away.

Also,I just "he" because the singer is a guy, this could just as easily be a girl.

@lionryan There are two singers simultaneously, Alisa Xayalith and Thom Powers

Sounds like some sort of internal psychological fear. The important thing to me is why they chose "unavoidable sun", specifically "sun". My guess is that the sun is unfathomably huge, bigger than one can fathom because it is among the biggest tangible thing people really acknowledge that affect them in some way. If you want, go look up how big it is - chances are it's bigger than you think. Unavoidable sun thus probably means something that's coming, and it's impossibly huge, important, or tragic. To me, it sounds like some sort of extremely massive event has happened as a result of the speaker's actions, which he had to do, or was persuaded into. Perhaps it's something about teen pregnancy - the speaker is "judged" by this life-changing event. Teen pregnancy can shatter one's life, so to the speaker a pregnancy would be like a death sentence. He doesn't remember a thing - when he was doing the task, I guess we was focused on the deed itself, or perhaps that's his internal voice talking to him as some sort of excuse mechanism. She's won - she's blamed it all on him because it is his fault, and he can do nothing but accept it. The unavoidable sun.

In the end, this is just one possible scenario. I think any scenario that involves something tragically life-changing which cannot be stopped and is a result of the speaker is valid. For example, a drunk driving approach works too.

Now that I think of it, it sounds like getting raped.

This song is about getting too messed up the night before. I am positive in the first verse they say "here it comes, the unavoidable sun" meaning...no matter what the next day is coming and I have to live with what I did.

The second verse they say.."here it comes..the unavoidable SUM of whats just happened of whats been done" meaning all the mistakes from the night before are coming back at them now.

She claims rape, but (most likely because of substance abuse) cant remember the night before. He has no choice but to believe and he lets her "win" but he still knows who he is as a person and doesnt believe he did it. Its basically "The Crucible" situation, accept defeat to end the fighting but refuse to give up who you are as a person because you inside know the truth

Yeah, no. I don't think it has anything to do with rape, and even if it did, it never implies (or even comes close to implying) that it was a false accusation of rape. It sounds like you're projecting your own issues.
