I've always thought this song is about a heavy night of drinking. The first stanza he's waking up the next morning with a bad hangover and doesn't really remember what happened. In the second, he's regretting everything he did and is beating himself up over it. In the third, he's talking about some drunken argument he got into with a friend/lover and admits that he pretty much lost the fight since he said everything while drunk, but then at the end adds "yet I won't lose what I said" meaning in some sense he's glad he finally said whatever he was feeling even if it means he lost that person. And the end I think is his conscience attacking him, but he's becoming numb to it and just running away. Also,I just "he" because the singer is a guy, this could just as easily be a girl. |
