All For Me

One of my favorites from In Flames. I saw this band in concert too in NYC, they put on a great show. As for what I believe this song is about, I think it's about a guy who gives his all in a relationship with someone that is basically a sinking ship. The relationship is hopeless and nothing he does can save it and he's exhausted but won't give up. Until the world ceases to move! A burning feeling, let me call I wish one more thing! I flinch my hands, and bang my head! Take whatever comes to you, All the while, I don't need another friend. I think here here's describing how he wishes to call his love who he knows he's losing, it's frusterating (bang my head) enough that he wishes one more thing that they can repair their love. Also he's saying take whatever comes to you, sure, but when you love someone you don't just accept the love is over, he wants that true love again that they once had (he doesn't need another friend) - more frusteration. We stand to fight for nothing! without a thought of reason! We will never be okay! Here he's saying we need to fight for this relationship, we can't just fight one another endlessly for nothing, if we are gonna fight, let the fighting we do from here forward be for us, for our love, for us to stay together, let it have purpose or we will never be okay.

This line I believe is one of the more telling lyric wise in the song, as this line somes up how the person realizes it's hopeless and this is them saying, I won't give up, I can still gather the pieces and give you back all that you've lost as far as hope in us. I'm never told, bad I stay, so sick in me, I'm dying alone. We stand to fight for nothing! without a thought of reason! We will never be okay! I better not do the things I do for you. Forever the night that is long for me now. I'm sure that I may, I can get you, all lost. A growing pain, it is hard to say what brought the darkest burden. For some of us, there is no answer. Chains are breaking, I regret this built up inside of me. There's a storm coming. I will serve no more, 'til my heavy last breath! I better not do the things I do for you. Forever the night that is long for me now. I'm sure that I may, I can get you, all that you lost. This final stanza of the song, I think somes up the persons frusteration he doesn't wanna die alone especially a failure at love. The night is long cause he feels like the nightmare of this dying relationship will never end. The darkest burden is the fact that he may never be able to repair the rift between him and his love. Chains are breaking, the bond between him and this other love is dissolving and he's feeling empty and in pain because of it. The storm coming is him realizing a breakup may be inevitably looming. I will serve no more, til my last heavy breathe, he's really starting to feel like throwing in the towel here. I better not do the thins I do for you is him saying I know it may be pointless that I do all this to try and mend this rift between us but I can't bare the thought of this ending. Forever the night is long for me now, the night is long cause the thought of spending the rest of his nights without his love is unbearable.

I think this song has to do with needing to break free from a relationship of some sort that has become deeply poisonous. Realizing that the relationship has caused you way more suffering then its worth. For your own sake (all for you) you need to end it promptly & completely or it will perhaps one day be the death of you.
