Love Through Her Lyrics
[Verse 1:]
Go back in time when I feel her
She touching me, it's too familiar
The way she doing the things
She does exactly the way you used to (you used to)
Let me take a break, I need a breather
The way she moving, I can't believe now
She does exactly the same, I must be going insane (Oh)
[Chorus:]
Am I going crazy?
Do I need some therapy to get shorty out of my mind?
Girl, my head is racing
Heard shortys been needing the rest of my mind
Am I making love to you through her?
Am I make love to you through her?
Am I making love to you through her?
Love through her (love through her)
[Verse 2:]
Thought I left that part of life behind me
It's back to haunt every girl that loves me
Why can't she leave me alone
Can't believe every girl that I hold
I see you, I see you
The greatest times we had the best of
Push back rewind, but I can't delete her
Move forward into my life, I had a place and a time to apologize (to apologize)
[Chorus x2:]
Am I going crazy?
Do I need some therapy to get shorty out of my mind?
Girl, my head is racing
Heard shortys been needing the rest of my mind
Am I making love to you through her?
Am I make love to you through her?

The meaning of this song is obvious...He's involved in a sexual relationship (with various girls) while simultaneously missing his previous love-life with one girl. Thus the question "Am I making love to you through her." I love this song, it brings back so many memories seeing how I did the same thing to my ex girlfriend. I tried to escape my memories/feelings for her through sex and it always seemed to fail. Instant gratification can sometimes be tempting, but it's only temporary. God bless!
I think "Love Through Her" is about the Singer being with other girl and every time he's having sex with her, he keeps on thinking about him ex:
(Go back in time when I feel her She touching me, it's too familiar The way she doing the things She does exactly the way you used to Let me take a break, I need a breather The way she moving, I can't believe now She does exactly the same, I must be going insane)
I guess everything that his girl does reminds him of his ex, which obviously sucks for him:
(Am I going crazy? Do I need some therapy to get shorty out of my mind?)
Sad but great song by The Weeknd ;)
I am a guy. But every single song by Abel makes my ears melt and my spine shiver. Here's my interpretation.
[Verse 1:] Go back in time when I feel her She touching me, it's too familiar The way she doing the things She does exactly the way you used to (you used to)
He is with a new girl but clearly he has not forgotten about his ex. He's beginning to do what we all do and notice how our new partner is different/similar from our former ones. She's very similar to his ex, which is maybe the only reason why he picked her?
Let me take a break, I need a breather The way she moving, I can't believe now She does exactly the same, I must be going insane (Oh)
He's taken aback at how similar she really is to his ex. The way she moves/the sex. Maybe he's just imagining all of this because he wants her to be his ex.
[Chorus:] Am I going crazy? Do I need some therapy to get shorty out of my mind? Girl, my head is racing Heard shortys been needing the rest of my mind
He's conflicted because this new girl is so similar to his ex. "Heard shorty's been needing the rest of my mind:" A double meaning that his current girlfriend needs the "rest of his mind" in other words, all of his attention.
It could also mean that shorty (his ex) is taking the peace of his mind (rest of my mind) and it's ruining him.
Am I making love to you through her? Am I making love to you through her? Am I making love to you through her? Love through her (love through her)
He doesn't know if he is just using this new girl as a means of fulfilling his desire for his ex or if he just can't bring himself to love anyone new.
[Verse 2:] Thought I left that part of life behind me It's back to haunt every girl that loves me
The memories of him and his ex continue to haunt him and his future relationships.
Why can't she leave me alone Can't believe every girl that I hold I see you, I see you
She's like a ghost that won't relent. She is in every single girl he sees.
The greatest times we had the best of Push back rewind, but I can't delete her Move forward into my life, I had a place and a time to apologize (to apologize)
The greatest times of his life were spent with her and these memories cannot be forgotten.
He states how she has moved forward into his life (from his past) and that he had the circumstances to apologize but we never know if he did it or not.
[Chorus x2:] Am I going crazy? Do I need some therapy to get shorty out of my mind? Girl, my head is racing Heard shortys been needing the rest of my mind
Am I making love to you through her? Am I make love to you through her? Am I making love to you through her? Love through her (love through her)
This is the most insulting song that only an insulting cad would appreciate. First and foremost, he's not making "love" to anyone if he's thinking about another. He's having sex with her, and there's a huge difference, but apparently the cad in the song is too arrogant or ignorant (or both) to get it. And if he thinks any decent, intelligent woman would be flattered by this song than he definitely is a fool. "Every girl he holds" would indicate he's either a male prostitute or should be one. If he's going to be a whore, than at least make some money off from lying on one's back. Prostitutes are obviously brighter than he. Is he going crazy? Dah....crazy as a lying, manipulative, fox. This song is so tiring and stupid. It should be marketed to sleazy insecure shallow losers who convince themselves they love their life and they love anyone they 'hold." Reality will catch up with jerks like this...just give it time.
You sure do interject a lot of personal opinion into deciphering the artwork of others. Try looking at it objectively and find what is there to appreciate. It exists even in songs detailing what you consider sleazy and whorish lifestyles such as Abel's songs.

Yeah what the fuck? I listen to The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, even some Wailers.. so to just say anyone who enjoys this music as 'sleazy insecure shallow losers' is a little bit of a stretch don't you think.

Because any intelligent, emotionally mature woman would realize that you really can't determine if someone is mentally stable or a "jerk" by judging what kind of music they listen to.

What this song is about is just a more sexual version of Usher's U Remind Me.

And he says Love to YOU through HER. So he's having SEX with HER but is he making LOVE to YOU (ex)? Is this why he's going insane? Because he's imagining making LOVE to YOU while simultaneously having SEX with HER?

Really not that hard to decipher, so he's not getting LOVE and SEX mixed up..

Wait I couldn't tell if you didn't like the song? Just kidding. Well I'm sorry to hear that you didn't find any appreciation for this song. But personally, I can relate to this song because after I broke up with my girlfriend i immediately had sex with another girl frequently...But while I was having sex/spending time with the new girl I realized that I hadn't completely gotten over my ex. Therefore I found this song to be very relatable and appealing for that sense. I don't think this makes me nor the Weeknd a "whore"...but instead just people, people with...

Emotions that he expressed and I related to...I'm sorry you couldn't find any value in this song but to deny some talent possessed in his music/(dark)lyricism is kind of ignorant. There's beauty in darkness, and we learn from our mistakes. God bless!
The only arrogant and ignorant one is you. You've successfully shamed people as "whores" and insulted sex workers all in one comment while missing the sociocultural context of the Weeknd.

Yes, Abel is an asshole, that is the character he has created for us, for his music. That's not a surprise, and if you don't like it, that's the point at which you stop listening, 'cause maybe gospel music or cutesy folk punk would be more your thing.

The culture we live in creates the categories of "fuck" and "love" and there's not clear designation as to what goes where, or what each even means. This is what makes the two phrases so powerful, and so elusive when one tries to pin it down. It gets to the point when they bleed into each other and mean each other and mean nothing all at once, and the Weeknd embodies that with this song. Love is lust and lust is love and what does that even mean, and did it ever mean anything-
