Problems Lyrics
You and me we’re not the same.
I am a sinner, you are a saint.
When we get to the pearly gates,
You’ll get the green light,
I’ll get the old door in the face.
Do, do, do – I’m a loser, a disgrace.
I found love in the strangest place –
Tied up and branded, locked in a cage.
I say, “I’m gonna stage a great escape.”
Let loose a love
All pent up and painfully out of place.
Do, do, do – I’m a loser, a disgrace.
You’re a beauty – a luminary in my face.
I got a lot of not a lot. I got a lot less than a lot.
I've got problems
Not just the ones that are little –
Big old people problems
It’s something to consider
When you come for dinner at my place.
I seem to find myself with the craziest of dames.
They get the ball on me (not to forget the chains).
Some say strange be a stranger’s game.
Some go to baseball,
Some go debase a face they can’t seem to save.
Do, do, do – I’m a loser, a disgrace.
You’re a beauty – a luminary in my face.
I got a lot of not a lot. I got a lot less than a lot.

I think they're saying, "Some go to base to base but they can't seem to say," or that's my take on it at least. Maybe they're refering to the general topic of the song of the first place which is simply, 'Some people are set, and some are not'. I think by saying some go to baseball it's like a definete choice, and path in life for that matter. However, if someone goes base to base, they still haven't made up their mind on what to do, and that's probably cause of their damn problems, which of course are more than little.
Nonetheless, great fucking song. One of the best, unique, and catchiest choruses to a Mother Mother song yet.
For the most part i only really understand the first half or so. It seems to me that hes saying he has problems with communication when it comes to other people. he feels like he is lesser, a worse person, a 'sinner' compared to the person hes talking to, who is inspiring, a 'saint'. this is also 'in his face' meaning he finds it obvious and its all he can think about when he sees them. hes explaining to this person that his behavious may come off as odd or rude because he has trouble knowing how to talk or behave around other ppl, 'something to consider'
idk but this is a great song!
In my opinion the problems they\'re talking about are big problems, like killing. See, the sinner can be the person that kills and the saint can be the person that is all perfect in the sinner\'s eyes. So the sinner is trying to tell the audience that they have to consider the kiling problems before going to they\'re house for dinner. The green ligh is for the saint and the old door is for the sinner\'s face -> let\'s pretend that the pearly gates are ways to get to the good place, like heaven or just like something casual, like going out being a teenager. If you\'re the saint, your parents will let you go out because they gave you the green light but if you\'re the sinner, you won\'t go to the good place. In the song, they also talk about not having a lot of problems and the ones that they have aren\'t little, so this proves more of my theory that the problem is killing.
