Daytona White Lyrics

Still I fail to mention
Our happy home
Here I face the last convention
I must fare alone
Inside the intervention I confess
I'll vow to hate the bottle
Yet I won't mean it
Though when you're merely half awake
You fear me

Daytona White
You're leaving me untied
Daytona White
In your closed hands
Two closed eyes
I tend to grace the bottom
Daytona White

I'm still thinking about this song, but I do know that Daytona White Gold is a type of Rolex, and Daryl wears a lot of big fancy watches.

It sounds to me that this song is being about addicted to alcohol but I don't know that's what I think.

I think Daytona White the Watch is a metaphor for time.

It sounds like to me, like he's singing about time and his life. I think he talks about his straight edge life for a bit when he mentions "I'll vow to hate the bottle" but in the end "yet I won't mean it". "I can't breathe without you..." is also a line from "Hard To Breathe" from his Geometry side project. So maybe another allusion to how time flies? But I'm not really sure who's he is referring to when he says "i can't breathe without you..." maybe time? that would be funny, since you are dead when time leaves you.

I haven't seen one person get it right.. He's talking about China White heroin. Daytona White = China White When you do heroin you nod out, meaning it's hard keep your eyes open. "When you're merely half awake.." Also when you inject heroin you must use a tourniquet to tie off. "Daytona White. You're leaving me untied." "In your closed hands, two closed eyes." Goes back to the nodding out.. Come on guys, it's not that hard to figure out if you know ANYTHING about heroin, or any type of opiates..

I don't know. This makes a lot of sense, and I want to believe that it is right, but I just feel like Daryl wouldn't be so straight forward, y'know?

Well he wasn't trying to be discreet when he wrote "All Good Junkies Go To Heaven." When you're writing songs sometimes you just have to come out and say it our you're not going to get your message across.

Some artists insist on it though and are weird about it. Daryl being one of those people. Personally I thought All Good Junkies Go To Heaven was a giant allusion towards religion.
