Gold Lyrics

Without a reason
There is nothing left to say
You pray for division
But the hope gets in the way

I must say, please don't let me down
Please don't let me down

How long I have been willing
How long before I breathe you out?

Without a reason
There is nothing left to say
Hopeless provisions
The tongue gets in the way

Still I say, please don't let me down
When the man comes, he'll pay to say
That happenstance gets in the way

How long I have been willing
How long before I breathe you out?

If the sun beats down on me
It would be a shade of halo
You've never, never, never, never...

Please don't let me down
Please don't let me down

How long I have been willing
How long before I breathe you out?

Dunno what it means but it "feels" very tribal in its latin beat. I think of El Dorado when i hear this song. Thats my gold reference.

p.s. The hook at 45 seconds gives me goosepimples.

I think it's an obvious one. He wants to repair the relationship but circumstances meant it wasn't working (happenstance gets in the way). It's a co-dependant relationship, he needs it for emotional sustenance and sex (hope gets in the way, the tongue gets in the way). He's been working hard to make it work, and he's willing. His intentions have been pure (If the sun beats down on me, It would be a shade of halo), but she doesn't want to continue. She's about to let him down.
