I don't know why I got these feelings, yeah,
I just can't seem to get away from
Can you dig it?

You may never see it
No, you won't find it falling off my tongue
I take it downtown, finally lose it

Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah
Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah

I don't think it's very nice
To walk around my head all night
You got me tangled like a braid, tied-twisted
I don't think it's fair, no
Do you-oh?
You-oh?

Are you on the flipside?
You know I took the long way 'round
'Cause all I really am is a homemade elevator
Blinded by your sunshine, put you on a plane to Paris
Lay my cards down on the table

Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah
Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah

I don't think it's very nice
To walk around my head all night
You got me tangled like a braid, tied-twisted
I don't think it's fair

Can't find a reason for these feelings, got enough of them
This guy he told me, said he's gonna send me something lovely
But even still at times I wonder what you're thinking of me
You're probably sure I lost my mind
Oh mind, oh mind, oh mind, oh mind

I don't think it's very nice
To walk around my head all night
You got me tangled like a braid, tied-twisted
I don't think it's fair

I don't think it's very polite
To walk around my head all night
You got me tangled like a braid, tied-twisted
I don't think it's fair
(Aah, ooh)

Aah, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Aah, ooh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah
Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah
Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah
Oh-oh-oh-oh, ah-ah-ah-ah, oh

    These lyrics are wrong.

Here are the actual ones(directly from the packet):

I don't know why I got these feelings yeah I just can't seem to Get away from Can you dig it

But you may never see it no you won't find it falling off my tongue I'll tuck it down Until I finally lose it

ohh ohh ohh ohh ah ah ah ah

I don't think its very nice to walk around my head all night you got me tangled like a bread tie twisted i don't thinks its fair Do you?

Out here on the flip side You know I took the long way Round cause all i really am is a home-made elevator

Blinded by your sunshine Put you on a plane to old paris I laid cards down on the table

ohh ohh ohh ohh ah ah ah ah

I don't think its very nice to walk around my head all night you got me tangled like a bread tie twisted i don't thinks its fair

Cant find a reason for these feelings clouding up above me Cause God he told me, he said he's gonna send me something lovely But even still I sit at times I wonder what You're thinking of me You're Probably sure I lost my mind oh mind oh mind oh mind oh mind

I don't think it's very nice to walk around my head all night you got me tangled like a bread tie twisted I don't thinks it's fair

oh oh oh oh ah ah ah ah ah

    Song Meaning

This song is in no way about his drug addiction. He's past that point in his life. This song is actually about his current love, who is from France. (They met when Matt and everyone lived in the UK).

"Blinded by your sunshine, Put you on a plane to old Paris. Laid my cards down, on the table."

He basically was really worried that she wouldn't be as fond of him as he is for her. They're from different cultures and interpret things differently. She is also quite different from him, but they still have much common ground.

"Can't find a reason for these feelings, clouding up above me 'Cause God He told me, He said He's gonna send me something lovely. But even still I sit at times I wonder what You're thinking of me You're probably sure I lost my mind oh mind oh mind oh mind oh mind."

Again, here is his worry about the whole thing. But I'm happy to report that she accepted his love and is a solid part of his life.

A personal favorite of mine from this new album, Around my Head is quite outright about it's meaning. Though I doubt anyone needs me to say it: Around My Head is a song about being lovestruck, having love for a person just out of reach.

This song is clearly influenced by The Pixies... Not a bad band to take notes from. Amazing song.

Obviously about him having very strong feelings for someone and it really bothers him.

(You will never see it You won't find it falling of my tounge)

This line suggests he probably knows he's in love with the person but denies it and he won't tell the person.

The Chorus tells us he just wants to forget about the person and his feelings. Maybe he's ashamed or the feelings or maybe he knows the person dislikes him.

Can't find a reason for these feelings- Got enough of them This guy he told me, Said he's gonna send me something lovely

But even still at times I wonder What you're thinking of me You're probably sure I lost my mind, Oh mind, Oh mind, Oh mind, Oh mind

He doesn't want to admit but he cares about what the person thinks about him and he hates it.

    My Opinion

Can people stop saying their songs are about drugs. Stop trying to find hidden drug references in their songs because it ruins a beautiful song. Just because he admitted to taking drugs in his personal life does not automatically mean his songs are about drugs. You idiots just can't believe someone can write such amazing lyrics that you can't understand because you are stupid. So instead of admitting you don't understand them or trying harder to come up with a meaning that is actually well thought out you say their lyrics are about drugs. just my opinion, I’m probably wrong maybe I’m just a innocent naive 15 year old girl who does not understand many drug and sex references and maybe their songs are about drugs. But I like to believe their songs are not. :) by the way i think it is "red tie twisty"

I agree. This song is really good. I love how he sings in the beginning, reminiscent of Tom Petty. And the Ohh Ohh Ahhh Ahhh reminds me of that Billy Joel song.Great CD.

    Song Meaning

    I dissagree.

I've read about Matt's former Heroine addiction, and I think this song is about that. It's about hurting your loved ones with your habit and feeling guilty about it.

"I don't think it's very nice to Walk around my head all night"

The singer can't enjoy his drugs because his trips are being flooded with thoughts of his loved ones and how he's hurting them

"Can't find a reason for these feelings- Got enough of them"

Well, first off, it's "coming up around me" instead of "got enough of them". and it means the singer is confused as to why he feel so guilty now when before he was able to indulge his habit without a second thought about those around him.

"This guy he told me, Said he's gonna send me something lovely"

    His dealer. 'nuff said.

"But even still at times I wonder What you're thinking of me You're prob'ly sure I lost my mind, Oh mind, Oh mind, Oh mind, Oh mind"

Again, reffering to his guilty thoughts.

But still, it could work with the "lovestruck" theory most people initially think too. Either way, I love the song. One of the best on the new album, and I love how he sings just after the bridge.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
