Vampire Money Lyrics
([Gerard]: Well, are you ready, Ray?
[Ray]: Yeah
[Gerard]: How about you, Frank?
[Frank]: Oh, I'm there, baby
[Gerard]: How about you, Mikey?
[Mikey]: Fuckin' ready
[Gerard]: Well, I think I'm alright)
1-2-3-4, oh
3-2-1 we came to fuck
Everybody party 'til the gasman comes
Sparkle like Bowie in the morning sun
And get a parking violation on La Brea 'til it's done
Hair back
Collar up
Jet black
So cool
Sing it like the kids that are mean to you
C'mon
When you wanna be a movie star (c'mon)
Play the game and take the band real far (c'mon)
Play it right and drive a Volvo car (c'mon)
Pick a fight at an airport bar
The kids don't care if you're all right honey
Pills don't help but it sure is funny
Gimme gimme some of that vampire money come on
Oh you look like somebody I used to know
Well uh, 3-2-1 we got the bomb
Everybody hurry 'til the tax man comes
Glimmer like Bolan in the morning sun
And get your finger on the trigger
Tap the barrel of a gun
Hair back, motherfucker
Jet black
So cool
Sing it like the kids that are mean to you (c'mon)
When you wanna be a movie star (c'mon)
Play the game and take the band real far (c'mon)

i think i love them like, a billion times more just knowing they turned down being on the twilight soundtrack
yea that's what I heard My Chemical Romance was asked to do a song for the twilight album and they basically said "fuck you" and made a parody song about the movies

I think it's hilarious that they didn't want to 'sell out' to the Twilight franchise, so much so that they wrote a song about it, but were quite happy to let Glee cover Sing.
I really enjoy the references to David Bowie and Marc Bolan, two 70s glam rockers who actually looked pretty cool in glitter. I think the song sort of takes the piss out of what vampires have become because of the Twilight books (the references to driving a Volvo, etc).

Is the intro an allusion to Sweet's (another glamrock band) Ballroom Blitz?
I would definitely say yes. It's too similar for it to be coincidental, and it makes sense with the rest of the references as well.

I had the exact same reaction the first time I heard it.

According to Gerard Way in Rolling Stone (issue 1119: Dec. 9, 2010), it's absolutely a direct reference to Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz." Way's waxing poetic on glam rock, actually, and in reference to "Ballroom Blitz" says:

I hope that helps.

Ok just so you guys know this is the one song that has nothing to do with the rest of the album. Its about the band being asked to do a song for one of the Twilight film soundtracks and how they thought it was pathetic that good musicians were selling out to these awful films. Hence the reason they make fun of the vampires sparkling like Bowie and such. Its actually kind of a funny song, I love it. Oh, and in case you don't believe me the line "Gimmie gimmie some of that vampire money c'mon!" should do it for ya.
I've heard conflicting opinions on whether or not this has any bearing on the story of Danger Days. Some say it is JUST about turning down the offer of having a song in the Twilight Saga and about selling out, others say -- wikipedia, in particular -- that it is "bastardised" versions of the Killjoys who have 'sold out' and done things that they don't believe in during the story of Danger Days and they have become the 'bad guys' in their own eyes by the end of it.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
I don't really have the story of the album down yet as I have only had the chance to listen to it once, and I also haven't properly paid that much attention as, again, I haven't had chance.
I'm pretty sure Gerard has been quoted as saying it's just them breaking the fourth wall- the guys in the band, which is why it's after Dr. Death leaves signs off.

But it's not just about the Twilight backlash, I think? Surely that's giving the franchise too much credit :P Is it not more about the vampirehungry society in general?

Does anyone know why, in the lyrics in the album, instead of Volvo car they put _____ car?

Música mais foda do novo álbum!
fucking great!
na na na is great and reinvented the image and provided it's own album style completely different from it's predecessors, yet kept some element of essential mcr. this song just plain rocks it and stands out on the album. i read that this album was going to be straight rock and none of the band stuff in black parade, this song is what i had in mind. i agree with seeingred; this song is fun and b.a.
YEAHHHH rocks
