I can feel you in the raising tide
Can you feel me by the fire side

From the moonlight
Through the cherry trees
Open the roof and take in the view
'Cause you're my sweetest dream
Come true

Colour the dusk, deep navy blue
And try to be brave
Cause I'll be right beside you
There's a world so high
Hold out your hands
And you can go anywhere
So reach for the stars
'Cause I'll be waiting up there
And you can finally fly
Cause you'll be lighter than air

Colour the dusk, deep navy blue
And try to be brave
'Cause I'll be right beside you
There's a world so high
Hold out your hands
And you can go anywhere
So reach for the stars
'Cause I'll be waiting up there
And you can finally fly
'Cause you'll be lighter than air

Isn't that "rising tide"? Instead of "raising tide"..

Oh, wow..."Color the dusk a deep navy blue" This is the part where I died. Such a beautiful, motivational song.

You guys have it all wrong, the song is talking about how the love of his life is dying, and he is telling her how much she fulfilled his life, and that even though she is about to embrace death she needs to be brave, because there is after life. She will be able to fly, and when his time comes he will be waiting there for her. Color the dusk deep navy blue, means don't think of death as a bad thing.

    My Interpretation
I've come to apply this song to my own experience reflecting on a girl from the past. We were so young, really missing what we had together. "I can feel you, in the rising tide, Can you feel me, by the fire side..." Quite literally sitting alone on the beach staring at the waves where we used to watch them and once made s'mores together as the sun set, wondering if she was also thinking about me. "From the moonlight through the cherry trees" was a time briefly after the breakup when I was finally at peace with what happened, spending some time apple picking back home with family and friends reflecting in nature. And as I began to heal and move on from the bitterness, I began to really embrace and appreciate what we had together. Remembering a time we were on the roof in each other's arms overlooking the Bay "Open the roof and take in the view, Cause you're my sweetest dream come true" because that's what she was and still is to me, "my sweetest dream come true~" And just looking back nostalgically on those wonderful years we shared together continues to make me smile. "Colour the dusk, deep navy blue And try to be brave Cause I'll be right beside you" We met in college where one of the school colors is navy. So naturally I felt a little bit of school pride, to be proud of where you're coming from and use it as fuel when life of confusion begins after college. In spirit I wanted to motivate and support her, so that she may find faith, clarity, and direction in herself just as I have. And that she would be content with herself and reach out as the opportunities in life are endless. "There's a world so high Hold out your hands And you can go anywhere So reach for the stars 'Cause I'll be waiting up there And you can finally fly Cause you'll be lighter than air" "Lighter than air" is the state in which I feel nowadays, free from confusion and denial of my own self, and I'm finally at a place where I'm content with myself with determination like I never had before. And I understand now that I might never have gotten to this place in my life if she didn't leave me, as I continue to believe that one of the best teachers in life is a broken heart. Maybe also Owl City, because I always seem to discover one of Adam Young's songs when I'm letting someone go. I hope for her that she will inevitably reach this place as well, as if I was waiting for her there. Maybe a metaphor that someday we could be together again, either here in this world, or the perfect Youtopia of joy and happiness that is heaven. Although the dream is over now, my real life has begun, and I wish her the best in her future endeavors and I sincerely hope she finds what she is looking for.

    My Interpretation
This song is about a girl who is revisiting the past, where she and her previous boyfriend used to have fun together, and she misses her boyfriend. The boyfriend is no longer with her, for whatever reasons you can imagine. "I can feel you, in the rising tide" is indicating that his boyfriend is still dreaming about her, wherever he is, and "Can you feel me, by the fire side. From the moonlight..." is telling you that the girl is also trying to feel him, by revisting the past, "by the fireside" or "through the cherry trees" "Color the dusk a deep navy blue, and try to be brave, 'cuz I'll be right beside you..." is the boy trying to tell her that he is okay where he is, and try to be brave, because he will try and guide her. "Reach for the stars 'cuz I'll be waiting up there" indicated that he is no longer on Earth, possibly indicating death, and awaiting her passing so they can meet again. But live life on Earth to fullest, "try to be brave, 'cuz I'll be right beside you." After this, when "you can finally fly" relates to the bravery line. Meaning 'live life to the fullest.' 'cuz you'll be lighter than air.

A correction for the lyrics: "I can feel you in the rising tide" Because Adam is a Christian, I think this song is about the relationship between God and a person. I'm not saying it HAS to mean that, but I'm pretty sure it does. I think it's written in the point of view of God. When it says "You're my sweetest dream come true" it's talking about how God wants us to love him, and when we do, it's what make him happiest. When it says "And try to be brave cause I'll be right beside you" God is saying how he is always there for us, and is always with us. "There's a world so high" is a reference to Heaven. "Hold out your hands and you can go anywhere" is a description of worshiping God, and how God will use you to do amazing things. "So reach for the stars cause I'll be waiting up there and you can finally fly cause you'll be lighter than air" is talking about when we finally get to Heaven if we choose to "reach" for God. Such an amazing song! Fell in love the first time i heard it.
