Tell Her I Said So Lyrics
Here's to a long life
For the end I'm in a home
All my friends have long since gone
Staff are cold but rules are rules
How can children be so cruel?
If I could leave I wouldn't stay
Never thought I'd end this way
Death is welcome
Why'd she wait
Tell her I said so
Tell her I said so
Out the window
Seasons change
Here inside
It's all the same
With the snow the birds have flown
Tell her I said so
We all pray for longer life
Longer life stuck in some home
Home's a word cuts like a knife
Noone chooses to grow old
Put your mark upon my door
I don't play here anymore
This delay is just a bore
Tell her I said so
Here's to a long life
Here's to a life that's lived too long
For the end I'm in a home
All my friends have long since gone
Staff are cold but rules are rules
How can children be so cruel?
If I could leave I wouldn't stay
Never thought I'd end this way
Why'd she wait
Tell her I said so
Tell her I said so
Seasons change
Here inside
It's all the same
With the snow the birds have flown
Tell her I said so
Longer life stuck in some home
Home's a word cuts like a knife
Noone chooses to grow old
Put your mark upon my door
I don't play here anymore
This delay is just a bore
Tell her I said so
Here's to a life that's lived too long

This is a sad but beautiful song. I saw James play at the House of Blues in Orlando, 9/21/2010. Before this singing song Tim Booth said that this song is about his elderly mother who is 90 years old and living in an "old folk home."
I was at the same show, and saw them again in dc on Monday. Phenomenal show, sad song.
