The sounds bounce around
The noise just drowns me out
To fast to focus
Nothing is showing any sign of slowing down
Dreams feed to me
In the form of a magazine
I can't control it
Channels have chosen what I'm supposed to be

It's hopeless
As far as I can see
There's no rest
Because we're stuck on repeat

Stand here and wait
For the to finally stop running in place
Chasing after what we don't need
Keep running
I'll stand here and wait for the world

Bright flashing lights
The ads just fill me eyes
Colors colliding
Voices inviting me to buy a better life
She speaks to me
He knows just what I mean
I can't control it
I have to own it
Everything is made of green

It's hopeless
As far as I can see
There's no rest
Because we're stuck on repeat

Stand here and wait
For the to finally stop running in place
Chasing after what we don't need
Keep running
I'll stand here and wait for the world

For the world to finally stop
Chasing after what we want
Take it all away
Flush it all away
We won't change

I'll stand here and wait
For the to finally stop running in place
Chasing after what we don't need
Keep running
I'll stand here and wait for the world

For the world to stop
For the world to stop
For the world to stop
For the world to finally stop

Great song... one of the best in the album.... basically its about what media trying to fill our brains with of stuff we don't need, yet we continue to run after them

I love the line "Dreams feed to me In the form of a magazine" It's stating that people don't really want this stuff, but then they see an advertisement for it and they are like 'I need this, or I need that...'.Also the line "to buy a better life" And I ask, can you really BUY a better life? And even after you get something new to make your life better, you will only get tired of it then want something else.

And I don't think that the song's major point was that the advertisements are the bad thing. I think he(song writer) was focusing on how the people are so greedy and believe that money will solve anything they need it to. So, the reason the wold is running in place (not getting any ware) is because all people do is want and solve all their problems by buying stuff they don't need.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
