Save me from disaster, disaster

Never would've thought I'd find you,
In a million years (in a million years)
Never would've dreamed we'd be together
Kiss me and you're mine forever

Save me from disaster
Shelter me within your arms

Tryin' to find my way through
Through the eye of the storm
I've been worn out and I have been torn
And I'm sorry I can't be,
All the things you wanna see in me
My heart is cold, can't you see I need you
Tell me it'll be alright, cause I can't breathe

Listen to the waves, they're crashing
Can't hold back the tears (can't hold back the tears)
Can we change the things fate decided
Pull me close, you're taking me under

Save me from disaster
Shelter me within your arms

Tryin' to find my way through
Through the eye of the storm
I've been worn out and I have been torn
And I’m sorry I can't be,
All the things you wanna see in me
My heart is cold, can't you see I need you
Tell me it'll be alright, cause I can't breathe

Save me from disaster, disaster

Baby, you know the ways to my heart
Got me caught up, yeah, yeah you got me
Always gotta believe that I'm here
And I promise: you are the one for me, forever

Disaster

I'm tryin' to find my way through
Through the eye of the storm
I've been worn out and I have been torn
And I’m sorry I can't be,
All the things you wanna see in me
My heart is cold, can't you see I need you
Tell me it'll be alright, cause I can't breathe

Save me from disaster, disaster

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
