I think, with the lyrics "The love, the hate, regret We all have it" he's saying he has all these emotions, but he knows everyone else does, too.
With the lines "I'd climb up 16 chapels And kick out every 16th stone To keep another one from feeling so broken To keep another one from feeling so torn" he's saying he wants to try to keep others from going through the same stuff.

In this, he knows he's gone through a lot of stuff, and he knows everybody can relate as well, so he's basically singing a credo to everyone that has been knocked down, and got back up.
