I think this songs about a person whos endured a tough relationship and they'll do anything to either get back to the way things were, or just get out of it all together. They've held their feelings in for far too long and the reason for this is because they dont want their feelings to ruin the relationship theyre trying so hard to keep together. But then they let their feelings go and the relationship breaks and falls apart:
