Aya Lyrics

She's a reckless lover with blood stained hands
round the neck of her, helpless man
She's the midnight silence, an outbound train
She's the glory of fallen names

Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore
Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore

She's a patient killer, a timeless hand
The choke of the falling sands
She's a proven saint with a witches tongue
The gods of war at her command

Sweet Aya bring it on, I wanna kiss you till they're gone
Sweet Aya bring it on, I wanna kiss you till they're gone
Till they're all gone

Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore
Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore

She's the broken shadows on the fallen walls
With no master there's no call
She's the faithful silence that visits all
With no mercy, no remorse

Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore
Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore

Sweet Aya bring it on, I wanna kiss you till they're gone
Sweet Aya bring it on, I wanna kiss you till they're gone
Till they're all gone

Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore
Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore
Aya, Aya, we're alone and there's no room here anymore
Aya, Aya, we're alone

This song is absolutely incredible; the dynamic shifts are so powerful! It seems to me that this is a song about a sort of dream girl, perhaps? Obviously, the passion for "Aya" is there, and it's intense, but what's all this about how she's a shadow and a killer? It seems to me that this girl is a dream girl, but she has a dark and dangerous side, too. And judging by how BRMC conduct themselves, they probably get off on that fact.

My Interpretation

This song is stunning - especially the chorus when it builds a way through. I agree with philfs that it could very well be about an actual woman. However my initial impression is that it's about heroin. If you go through the lyrics with that in mind it actually makes a lot of sense. But either way, it's definitely about something beautiful, but entirely destructive - a huge theme of theirs and highlighted in this album.

My Opinion

This song is probably about disappointment relationship with a very special girl

In Cherokee legend, there was a "fallen angel" of sorts, named Kalona. He had been cast away from his goddess, so he took his rage and raped/impregnated Cherokee women. Eventually the Women elders of the tribe created a clay woman named Aya who they enchanted to become alive and beautiful. She lured Kalona into a cave, where he was eternally trapped. This song is obviously more metaphorical to this story but you can see that it's about lusting after a dangerous person.

It's about death (possibly suicide but that is a grasp)

She's a reckless lover with blood stained hands 'Round the neck of her, helpless man (someone that has given up hope) She's the midnight silence, an outbound train (death has no return) She's the glory of fallen names (famous people that have died)

The gods of war at her command (a perfect line to describe death)

just my input but the joy with music is that everyone can have their own interpretation. The same song can mean completely different things to completely different people.
