Her and the other person's "hands" are metaphors for their hearts. The other person will not let her go: "no they (hands) will not let me go". And she can't let go of the other person's "hands", though trying to: "I can say your name easily, I laugh a bit louder without you" Her trying to let go of the other's person's hand put her hands (heart) won't let her, because she can't control them, though she tries, but the other person's hands won't let her go: "But they just shake and try to break whatever peace I may find." I did. I thought it was a beautiful song, truly. When I first heard the song, and that it was going to be the theme song I was somewhat disappointed. After all, a "modern"-styled song in a Final Fantasy game? What's that about. But playing this wonderful and spectacular game, with such strong characters and powerful emotions... It was truly an amazing game. And then at that beautiful cutscene, this song plays, and it's just perfect--looking at it now, I really cannot think of a better song, or wanting a more "traditional" FF song. I know I'm rambling, but that just shows anyone who bothers to read this how much this game touched me. I've always been a huge FF fan, and this is by far my favorite one. It's so realistic--as a sibling, I can attest to this. Anyone who has a sibling should know how we get upset at each other over such petty and trivial matters, but I know I'd go to the ends of the Earth to protect my brother and sister. That's what this song means to me--the beauty of interpretation. This story and song are going to stay in my heart. Instant classic.

Seems like the lyrics are about not being able to get over someone, or not WANTING to get over someone.

It's hard building a relationship, once you're that deep in it's not easy to start all over again with someone else if it ends.

She doesn't feel right being with someone else and doesn't let herself get close to anybody, holding someone else's hands doesn't seem right even though she tries.
It's like she is trying to tell herself to move on but is in a battle, one side of her is trying to explain that everything will be fine and to move on, and the otherside won't accept it, don't wanna understand why it's happened etc.
Whenever she finds some sort of peace not thinking about the person she longs for, she can't help but think about that person's touch and having them around, she shakes and start to break down again after trying to build back up and move on.
Continuous battle of building up and breaking again etc etc, it's just what I get from it :P
Lovely song. I always thought she was saying "My hands; don't want to steady yet" instead of "My hands; don't want to start again". Makes a little more sense that they don't want to steady yet when she goes on to talk about how she tries to move on but they don't seem to want to let her in my opinion.
The song is amazing. It focuses on a lot of the body other than the hands... "I walk steady on my feet" (her feet), "My voice obeys me" (her mouth), "And I don't see you everywhere" (her eyes)... This shows that in all honest, she may try to get over this person, every part of her body wants to, but her hands overthrow all those other body parts and she just can't seem to get past th feelings of wanting to hold him and no-one else.
It is really a beautiful song and definately made Final Fantasy 13's ending something special, especially since I am a fan of Leona and her talent.

Just to let you know guys, these are actually the lyrics to her other song "Broken" which I also love (you should listen to it).
My interpretation is about a death (of her boyfriend or husband) and how she is having difficulties moving on. She's trying to move on but her hands miss holding the loved ones hands, and because of that, they are out of control.
