Lead Poisoning Lyrics
Choking slowly broken hearted
Dont look now , heres what you started
And I swore Id be there till the end, Were bitter now but better friends
I climbed out limbless to the ledge to bask in my last true regrets
Lay my heavy head here down to sleep
Now pray to Abraxas my soul to keep
Lay my heavy head here down to dream
Wake up with this lead poisoning
Sobbing softly lost and hollow
This fevered dream tough pill to swallow
And I swore Id be there to the end, Youre better off your bitterness
I climbed out lifeless to the edge, I waved goodbye and leapt high
Lay my heavy head here down to sleep
Now pray to a Abraxas my soul to keep
Lay my heavy head here down to dream
Awaken to the blood and sweat and screams
Woke up here on Monday morning
This old tree on this dark corner
Waiting here for what tomorrow brings
Silver Lake mercury mining
This mistake no silver lining
Waiting for a bullet train to bring me my lead poisoning
My lead poisoning
Lay my heavy head here down to sleep
Now pray to Abraxas my soul to keep
Lay my heavy head here down to dream
Wake up with this lead poisoning
Dont look now , heres what you started
And I swore Id be there till the end, Were bitter now but better friends
I climbed out limbless to the ledge to bask in my last true regrets
Now pray to Abraxas my soul to keep
Lay my heavy head here down to dream
Wake up with this lead poisoning

I climbed out lifeless to the edge, I waved goodbye and leapt high
Now pray to a Abraxas my soul to keep

when i heard the song before i got the album i thought it was abraxas, and was wondering who abraxas was. Then I saw brass fist and i knew it didn't sound right. Anyways i came on hear to see if anyone knew who abraxas was. Any idea?

not sure what made me check this, but apparently im not too terribly late on a response. google Abraxas and youll find its a mistranslation of the old name Abrasax. He was supposed to be the archon the created earth also believed to be the god of all gods. theres a bunch of different references that get kinda misconstrued. makes me really curious what matt was reading when he wrote it. doesnt sound like its from anything related to satanism and whatnot that hes joked about in the past

This is by far my favorite song on the album. I think its about a failed relationship but more specifically Matt's failed marriage. Like many alkaline trio songs about breakups, they really capture the emotions of that experience so well. I can really relate to the line "I climbed out limbless to the ledge to bask in my last true regrets". My last relationship is the only one i truly regret ever getting into. It totally rocked me and this song really speaks to how that feels. I also love the way Matt sings this line "I climbed out lifeless to the edge, I waved goodbye and leapt high". The trio really understand what a breakup is like, more than any other band ive heard. Love them and love this album.
PS: I thought that "brass fist" sounded really random haha. "abraxus" makes a lot more sense xD
