July flame
Sweet summer peach
High up in the branch
Just out of my reach

Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?

July flame
I'm seeing fireworks
They're so beautiful
Tell me why it hurts

July flame
Ashes of a secret heart
Falling in my lemonade
Unslakable thirsting in the backyard

Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?

Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?

Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?

Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?
Can I call you mine?

This song really hurts me. 4 years ago I fell in love with a friend and had to keep it a secret from them because I knew it would never be. I felt constantly embarrassed and sad and the feeling got worse to the point where the only way to make it better was to cut all ties, which broke my heart. I've since met somebody else and we are very happy and settled, but I heard this song for the first time today and was instantly reminded of the pain. It's such a beautifully sad song and I am strangely grateful I had these feelings.
