King Anubis (The Vessel):
Nigga, this is King Anubis and I am your spirit guide
You can paint me as evil as you think you know me but can't deny I'm the voice that you hear inside
Close your eyes fore your time has come, you can tell when the church bells ring
I can take you where the crawdads sing
What I can't do is show up on Judgement day empty handed so your soul is the offer that I shall bring
You're supposed to walk with me to the other side
But you've chosen to run, so now it's do or die
Riddle me this, a simple question just to prod
How the fuck do you plan to escape from a god
Now spell it backwards and you'll see me, I'm the truth
You can't duck me - muthafucka', I'll pluck you up like a goose
Better believe that the noose ain't loose
I'm off the wall, kill em all nigga - 'cause I got the juice
My shadow is my truest form
A milli in my lifetime, I celebrate my newest born
We're all around you, you're fully surrounded
Your fate's already written, it's the story you're bound in
Is the weight of the world heavy among the deceased
Feeding the soil for those who walk without signing the lease
Required to use the flesh in place of will even when it's weak
Day after day, night after last before the sun we seek
No ethics in a world made of dollars and cents
Just greed, war and famine with unholy expense
The blood on the leaves is the same that pumps in the veins in my sleeves
The force awakens with no chance of reprieve
And I curate the parts to recreate an arch
That would put Noah to shame as I restart the heart
To spark up the art, give life to flame
And let the blaze pull you down to where I've called your name
Busted open is the crimson mask that spills your pain
The bell has tolled on all the lies that once flowed through your veins
You're 'bouta enter an unholy session, no discretion
The hills have eyes, don't be surprised
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Rolled out the blood red carpet for your last walk
Open your ears and listen for the last call
The sands have fallen to the lower half, your time has passed
The breath you take will be your last, eternity judged by your past
I am not the devil, but I can be
Chant a sacred language that you can't speak
Serve as the drug in which you'll be granted relief
Or spike what excites you and hand you your release
Grant subconscious relief to the plight of man
Ask no questions and swallow the contraband
Then crossover dimensions and fall to land
Bow your head, kiss the feet of a higher plan
Niggas can't afford life, so it's no surprise
That's it's cheaper to die than be locked inside
Reap the soul from within and then call it pride
It's the devil so I've heard he's easy to find
Some tread onto darkness and pay no mind
Others walk in the light and still become blind
It don't matter, it's all a shame 'cause both sides of humanity are simply living lives of crime
But guess what, that's the duty of the streets
To an all-seeing being it's the beauty of the beast
With the only true pleasure being booty in the sheets
'Cause not everybody gets a chance to have eternal peace
Busted open is the crimson mask that spills your pain
The bell has tolled on all the lies that once flowed through your veins
You're 'bouta enter an unholy session, no discretion
The hills have eyes, don't be surprised
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt
Hunt

This is truly a great song... I can't understand why it isn't getting more attention. Quite depressing, though; reminds me of an apocalypse.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
