Eh-eh, eh-eh ye-ha, ye-ha
Eh-eh, eh-eh aha-aha
Eh-eh, eh-eh ye-ha, ye-ha
Eh-eh, eh-eh aha-aha

I love that lavender blond
The way she moves the way she walks
I touch myself can't get enough
And in the silence of the night
Through all the tears and all the lies
I touch myself and it's alright

Just give in, don't give up, baby
Open up your heart and your mind to me
Just know when that glass is empty
That the world is gonna bend, yeah

Happy in the club with a bottle of red wine
Stars in our eyes 'cause we're having a good time, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die
Be your best friend, yeah, I'll love you forever
Up in the clouds we'll be higher than ever, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die and it's alright

Eh-eh, eh-eh, ye-ha, ye-ha
Eh-eh, eh-eh, aha-aha
Eh-eh, eh-eh, ye-ha, ye-ha
Eh-eh, eh-eh, aha-aha

I am as vain as I allow
I do my hair, I gloss my eyes
I touch myself all through the night
And when something falls out of place
I take my time, I put it back
I touch myself 'til I'm on track

Just give in, don't give up, baby
Open up your heart and your mind to me
Just know when that glass is empty
That the world is gonna bend, yeah

Happy in the club with a bottle of red wine
Stars in our eyes 'cause we're having a good time, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die
Be your best friend, yeah, I'll love you forever
Up in the clouds we'll be higher than ever, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die and it's alright

So happy I could die and it's alright
So happy I could die and it's alright

Eh-eh, eh-eh, ye-ha, ye-ha
Eh-eh, eh-eh, aha-aha
Eh-eh, eh-eh, ye-ha, ye-ha
Eh-eh, eh-eh, aha-aha

Happy in the club with a bottle of red wine
Stars in our eyes 'cause we're having a good time, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die
Be your best friend, yeah, I'll love you forever
Up in the clouds we'll be higher than ever, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die and it's alright

Happy in the club with a bottle of red wine
Stars in our eyes 'cause we're having a good time, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die
Be your best friend, yeah I'll love you forever
Up in the clouds we'll be higher than ever, eh-eh, eh-eh
So happy I could die and it's alright

The thing about Lady Gaga's music is that no matter how shallow it appears on the surface, if you look at the lyrics and listen long enough you will realize that there is almost ALWAYS a deeper meaning behind the music. This song is definitely about more than just having a good time. Even the title suggests a double entendre: so HAPPY i could DIE is a juxtaposition, most people do not associate death with happiness.

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

This song is def a twin to "Unfair" (a song she has been quoted as saying is about falling in love with someone who is already in a relationship) so it is presumably about the same person. Given the references to buying an apartment and not being able to see her love interest "after tonight," it's most likely that she's moving away and she'll "wait a day to break the bad news" (i.e. notifying him that she's leaving once she's already gone). And, of course, the fact that she sees in him a fellow "idealist" and "dreamer" (terms commonly given to people with the INFP personality on the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)) portends that she'll always be left wondering if they would've been perfect together.

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
