I know that we are young
And I know that you may love me
But I just can't be with you like this anymore
Alejandro

She's got both hands
In her pocket
And she won't look at you
Won't look at you
She hides true love
En su bolsillo
She got a halo around her finger
Around you

You know that I love you boy
Hot like Mexico, rejoice
At this point I gotta choose
Nothing to lose

Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe
I'm not your babe, Fernando

Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch
Just smoke my cigarette and hush
Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Roberto

Alejandro

Alejandro

Stop, please
Just let me go Alejandro
Just let me go

She's not broken
She's just a baby
But her boyfriend's like a dad, just like a dad
And all those flames that burned before him
Now he's gonna fire fight, gotta cool the bad

You know that I love you boy
Hot like Mexico, rejoice
At this point I've gotta choose
Nothing to lose

Don't call my name
Don't call my name, Alejandro
I'm not your babe
I'm not your babe, Fernando

Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch
Just smoke my cigarette and hush
Don't call my name

    Song Meaning
I think, actually, that this song was from the "Fear of Men Monster," which could also be tied in with "Fear of Sex Monster." The song is about how she sees love based on a man's wallet (she hides true love en su bolsillo [Bolsillo is pocket in Spanish, which plays a large part in the song]). She then wraps men around her finger with her innocent act (She's got a halo round her finger, around you). According to her Wiki page, the song also represents GaGa's fear of commitment to the point where she cannot even remember the name of her lover (exemplified in the multiple changing of names; "Alejandro," "Fernando," "Roberto"). Additionally, the line "Mexico, rejoice!" ties into the whole "What happens in Mexico, stays in Mexico" theme that is ever-popular among Spring-Breakers in Cancun. So, basically, the song is about being promiscuous and garnering as much money as possible, then realizing how wrong it is: "I know that we are young, and I know that you may love me; but I just can't be with you like this anymore...Alejandro." By that time, however, "Alejandro" is already in love with the speaker as he calls her name and addresses her as "babe." Unfortunately for him, he has no idea that she never felt anything more for him than lust and financial assistance. I know plenty of people like that, lol.

She's in love with a man, who's in love with another man, but she's leaving them and their screwed up ways behind. She doesn't want to be controlled by her emotions for Alejandro. She doesn't want Alejandro who wants Fernando, who reminds her of Roberto (her ex before Alejandro). Either that, or her current boyfriend (Alejandro) reminds her of her ex, Fernando. So, she's leaving the memories (current and old, Alejandro and Fernando) behind. As for Roberto? Who the fuck is he, and where does he come in? My favorite line: "You know that I love you, boy/Hot like Mexico, rejoice/At this point I go to choose/Nothing to lose."

I got this song 6 days ago and my itunes play count is 90.. lol I'm OBSESSED. But as such, I'm pretty sure I have a good handle on the meaning of this song. She's in love with Alejandro, who is young, hot, and poor. But she's now telling him she can't be with him because she's engaged to an older, wealthier man. She's debated over whether she should choose love or security, and she picked security "I just can't be with you like this anymore" She hides true love en su bosillo (in his wallet)-she hides her love for Alejandro and attempts to replace it with her fiancee's money She's got a halo around her finger around you-She's got her big engagement ring around her finger, and the older man is totally infatuated with her, he gives her everything she wants The chorus "you know that I love you boy".. she's singing to Alejandro, telling him that he knows she knows she loves him, and one day maybe she'll come back to him, but not now. "Don't call my name..." telling all her past lovers (including Alejandro) to not call on her because she's a taken woman Don't wanna kiss don't wanna touch.. she doesn't want to give in and cheat on her fiancee even though she's not in love with him "She's not broken, she's just a baby"-she knows what she's doing- using him for his money, she wasn't forced into this "But her boyfriend's like her dad, just like a dad." he's much, much older than her and very rich so he takes care of her "And all those flames that Burned before him, Now he's gotta firefight Gotta cool the bad" all the lovers she had before..alejandro, fernando, roberto- she's got to "put out" their flames because she's getting married he's got to help her "overcome" her love for all those other men by being a good doting husband (although she'll never be attracted to him, and probably never love him) at this point in the chorus i think she's singing "you know that I love you boy, hot like mexico.." to her fiancee, which shows her superficial feelings for him. and then finally in the song, I think her old fiancee/ husband dies, she gets all his money and goes back to Alejandro. It's really kind of sad for the old man, but I love this concept. I'm making a music video for it!

This song is just like almost every other song by Lady Gaga. It is about her being a whore. She fornicated with three men in Mexico, and now she's playing mind games with herself about breaking their hearts. Case closed.

It seems to me that certain lines in this song reference a girl who seeks older men, but it's rather hard to determine if that's actuality or just how I keep hearing it. It doesn't make much sense against the line "we are young" so I'm going to assume it's actually a reference to her youthful behavior. Despite being a woman, she acts like a girl. Afraid of love and commitment perhaps, or just not understanding of it. I'm also pretty certain the line IS "Now he's gonna firefight, gotta cool the bad." The whole verse sounds like she's saying the girl has issues, and this man, like a father might, battles them. Perhaps, she starts the trouble and he has to calm it? Start a fire to cool? Also, I swear I keep hearing "just smoke my cigarette and hush" *laughs* I'm not hearing a "more" in there anywhere. Maybe my hearing is off.

Lol. Some 'meanings' really gave me laugh Well...I get it this way She's on vacation in Merxico. She has a halo - that is a ring - around her finger, so she's either married or engaged. "Her boyfriend is just like her dad' means he wants to control her. And the main thing, she hooked up with Alejandro and Fernando and Roberto during vacation and now she's leaving them heartbroken....pretending that she's hurt, but she's not - she's just playing (she's not broken, she's just a babe; and she does that inspite her boyfriens whose like her dad) she hides true love en su bosillo - she keeps the ring in the pocket

After listening to this song repeatedly I believe the true meaning is actually quite apparent within the lyrics. Her true love, Alejandro (Ale-ale-jandro) is obviously an ex cop whose partner and former lover, Fernando, was killed in action by the drug lord, Roberto - who Lady Gaga also one had a brief fling with. Overcome with feelings of guilt and grief, Alejandro is now a vigilante gunning for Roberto. Lady Gaga meanwhile finds herself caught in the middle of these troubling times. The "hot like Mexico" clearly indicates that Roberto has fled to Nuevo Leon and attempting to start a new life there all the while Alejandro is on his trail, who also, due to the loss of Fernando, is overly protective of Lady Gaga ("Just like a dad"). I love this song!!!!!!!!11one

This is her "Fear of Sex Monster." She's basically saying goodbye to her past lovers. She states this in the interview that she did for Fuse.

Halo = condom. (or safe, no-strings-attached sex---not innocence) Alejandro is a pimp. (a dad with burning flames around him) true love "En su bolsillo" = true love in your pocket, (all about money not love). Roberto, Fernando, just names of her customers. Desensitization are normal to prostitutes. During sex, they pretend to like it (rejoice, song says) but after that... "Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch Just smoke my cigarette and hush". Kudos to those who said this song is about prostitution! And yes, the girl in th song did manage to escape in the end.

Shudder to Think
This song is timeless, and nearly 20 years after its creation, still possesses the mystique it did the first time i heard it ~1994. To me, at first blush, all those years ago, it had some kind of homo-erotic allure. The line "so that the others may do" tells of something which must be done for others to follow suit. It felt like like some kind of roxy-glam-pop invitation to sexual liberation. Upon further introspection I think the song may not have an intrinsic meaning, but simply represents a sort of "holding open the door" for people who otherwise might be affronted by this song/band's unusual style. I know, as a sort of armchair rock-historian, that there have been few bands so daring and so true to the sound that wanted to emerge from within, whether the creator wanted it or not. This band handled it with elegance and grace seldom, if ever, seen.

Moyet later described how her song "Goodbye 70's" had been inspired by her disillusionment with how the late-1970s punk scene had turned out, saying, "'Goodbye 70's' is about punk and not caring how you were dressed, and then I discovered that so many of my friends that I'd thought it all really meant something to just saw it as another trend... That's what 'Goodbye 70's' was all about, about how sour the whole thing became."
