IMO "I love that lavender blonde, The way she moves, the way she walks", This song is undoubtedly about her lesbian crush on a best friend, or someone close to her in the past. She touches herself at night because not only is the love not mutually reciprocated but it is a deep dark secret( "Through all the tears and all the lies." ) The singer is scared that the person she yearns for will not love her back or worse, disown her for her tabooed desires. Therefore, the only way she can deal with her accumulated hidden feelings is touching herself all through the night as she can not express her forbidden love to whomever she is talking about. When shes with her crush she is so happy she can die whilst abusing alcohol to alleviate the tremendous pain and stress she suffers. Bending the world away from reality.

I'd never really thought about it that way but now that I think about it, it seems very possible. I think Gaga wanted it to seem like it was only about alcohol, but really it's about something different.

For example:

"I love that lavender blond The way she moves, the way she walks I touch myself, can't get enough"

This part is obviously about a girl with blond hair that she has a crush on

"And in the silence of the night Through all the tears and all the lies, I touch myself and it's all right"...

"I am as vain as I allow I do my hair, I gloss my eyes I touch myself all through the night"

Whilst earlier in the song "I touch myself", refers to masturbation. At this point, the meaning switches to "touching herself up", hair, dress, make-up.

This is further highlighted in the following:

"And when something falls out of place I take my time, I put it back I touch myself 'till I'm on track"

"Something falls out of place" - her hair, or perhaps the penis that some would believe she...

She's the Lavender Blonde. She sometimes wears a light purple wig. It was her Twitter avatar for the longest time. The song is about her fears of vanity and addiction.
