Halfway Gone

I think this song is about his partner who is with him and says she loves him (This is the 'talk is cheap... give my a word you can keep'), but she wont really completely commit.

She's always wondering if there is something out there that's better and she's trying to decide if she wants to stay with him. He's telling her not to take too long figuring it out, because even though he loves her he's ready to leave her if she doesn't really want him enough. He's getting tired of it and even though he hasn't left her yet, he's already mentally and emotionally preparing himself for this eventuality. Thus, he is already halfway gone.

My interpretation of this song is that this guy's really into a girl and he's interested in starting a serious relationship with her. She leads him on, making him think they're on the same page, when in reality she hasn't decided what she wants, so she continues to stall. The song's lyrics as a whole represent a guy's last ditch efforts to get a girl to commit before he decides to abandon all hope and leave for good. The song's about telling that girl she should commit, or she will lose him forever. He wants her to be truthful to what she wants. He doesn't want to be with her if shes always going to want something (or someone) more.

I think that this song is referring to him being led on. For exapmle, he like a girl who keeps him waiting. When he says "Don't take too long.." he means that he loves her but he won't wait around forever for her.

This song is so great - I love it! My interpretation is that she's stringing him along, playing hard to get & just immature games in general so he's halfway out the door. It's like she doesn't want to be with him but at the same time, wants him to be totally into her and he's not havin it so he's calling her on her bullshit!

BTW, the lyrics are actually "Cause YOU'RE halfway in but don't take too long Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone" not "Cause I'M halfway in..."

To me this means she is lying to him, and based on the lyrics that follow, about her committment to the relationship.

Here he is telling her that she should commit to the relationship or lose him, because he is on his way out, because he feels that she is only half in the relationship. But he is also telling her not to take too long to make a decision about whether she really wants to be in the relationship or if she wants to cont. to keep her options open like she has been.

I have been in this situation, so it makes perfect sense to me.

I think that, yes, she's be lying to him and leading him on completely sure that she can capture him in the fantasy while she tries to figure out what to do herself. and this song is him saying 'I'm not falling for the bullshit anymore commit yourself or not.' though the "halfway gone" part could mean one fo two things in my mind. 1) during the relationship he was drifting off with every lie she told him, every time she lead him on. 2) he's leaving, but still loves her despite everything so it's hard to break away but he's slowly managing it. "Cause I'm halfway in, but don't take too long Cause I'm halfway gone, I'm halfway gone" he's half in love with her still and halfway gone.

either way i love this song to death and the music video doesn't make too much sense (though every time I've watched it wasn't in any kind of state to decipher anything....)

my interpretation of this song is that she is just fooling aroung with hom and cant decide whether she loves him or not and he is just tired of it "halfway gone" means hes almost gone and that she better hurrt up or shell lose him
