I'm finding my way back to sanity again
Though I don't really know what I'm gonna do when I get there
I take a breath and hold on tight
Spin around one more time
And gracefully fall back to the arms of grace

'Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
'Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door
And listen to you breathing
It's where I wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be

I'm looking past the shadows in my mind into the truth
And I'm trying to identify the voices in my head
God wish won't you
Let me feel one more time what if feels like to feel
And break these calluses off me one more time

'Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
'Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside of your door
And listen to you breathing
It's where I wanna be, yeah

Oh I don't want a thing from you
Bet you're tired of me waiting for
The scraps to fall off of your table to the ground
La da da da
'Cause I just wanna be here now

'Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door
And listen to you breathing
Its where I wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be

'Cause I am hanging on every word you're saying
Even if you don't wanna speak tonight
That's alright, alright with me
'Cause I want nothing more than to sit outside heaven's door
And listen to you breathing
It's where I wanna be, yeah
Where I wanna be

EVERYONE CAN GET WHAT THEY WANT FROM MOST OF THESE SONGS! SOME PEOPLE NEED A LOVE SONG, OTHERS NEED A RELIGIOUS SONG! DONT HATE ON THOSE WHOS VIEWS DIFFER FROM YOURS! YOU "CHRISTIANS" WHO FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE B!TCHY TO THOSE WHO DONT BELIEVE OBVIOUSLY LEARNED NOTHING FROM THE BIBLE. THOSE AGNOSTIC/ ATHEISTS WHO HATE CHRISTIANS AND SAY WE'RE PUSHING GOD DOWN YOUR THROATS, WELL NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO READ THIS PAGE, IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ IT YOU DONT HAVE TO. YOU CAN LIKE LIFEHOUSE AND GET THE LYRICS FROM HERE, POST YOUR THOUGHTS ON HERE AND NOT READ EVERYONES COMMENTS ON HERE, NO NEED TO BE RUDE. SORRY IF MY BEING BLUNT IS HURTING ANYONES FEELINGS, BUT REALLY, YALL NEED TO GROW UP, LET PEOPLE BE WHO THEY ARE. SHOW THEM WHAT IT MEANS TO BE CHRISTIAN IF YOU ARE, BUT NO NEED TO HATE THEM BECAUSE THEY ARENT FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. THOSE WHO ARENT RELIGIOUS, IF WE WANTED TO BE INSULTED, WE WOULD ASK FOR IT, UNTIL THEN SHUT YOUR MOUTHS. IM SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE FIGHTING OVER BEING RELIGIOUS OR NOT, YOU DONT KNOW THESE PEOPLE, THERE IS NO NEED TO BE MEAN TO THEM. THIS IS NOT THE STONE AGE, WE SHOULD BE EVOLVED ENOUGH NOT TO BE ETHNOCENTRIC AS HOLES WHO BELIEVE EVERY ONE SHOULD BE THE SAME AS US, OR DIE, WHICH IS HOW A LOT OF THESE COMMENTS SOUND. LOVE THE BAND, LOVE THE SONG, LOVE GOD, AND LOVE LOVE, DOESNT MEAN I LOVE ALL OF YOU BEING JERKY TO EACH OTHER FOR NO REASON WHAT-SO-EVER.

The video suggests it's about a relationship. But the people talking back to him in the video are random and their faces look cold and "callous" (as the lyrics suggest). I think it's about a singer who feels like he's loosing his sanity through the "shadows in his mind", "voices in his head" and if any of them are Gods. He hasn't heard from God and his life has grown "callous" and lifeless ("let me feel one more time what it feels like to feel alive"). He projects these feelings on the random people he sees throughout the day (in the video). Sadly he thinks God is growing tired of him "waiting for the scraps to fall off the table to the ground" and then concludes he "sits outside heaven's door".

This song reminds me of one of my best friends (whos a guy) because whenever i talk to him at night he never talks very much, and i sometimes get that weird feeling that im falling in love with him.

I'd say that this song is just speaking about how much this guy wants to be in the presence of the (hopefully) girl he loves. Everything she says or does is just magical to him, so doesn't even matter if she is speaking, as long as he can sit there listening.

I like to think of this song as a love song... "sit outside heavens door" I like interpreting that as he thinks the girl he's singing about is an angel. It's such a sweet song is you look at it as a love song...

i knw these guys r famous as a christian rock band. but that doesnt mean this song should be about God... for me i think this song speaks about a girl he is obsessed or fallen in love with.

all the places he speaks about God are his prayers and how he waits for god to reply to those prayers "I'm trying to identify, The voices in my head, God, which one's you?"

wat he means by heaven here is the girl's place and not the actual heaven.

"I can't believe people here are saying this song is about God simply because they are CHRISTIAN ROCK. Like..what the fuck, people? Just because they are christian rock doesn't mean every song they fucking sing is about god."

True, but this song IS about God. And a few of the lyrics are wrong.

"I'm finding my way back to sanity again Though I don't really know what I'm gonna do when I get there Take a breath and hold on tight Spin around one more time And gracefully fall back in the arms of grace"

why would he refer to a girl that doesn't love him as the arms of grace?

However, in 2 Corinthians 12: 8-10 it says

"Three times I prayed to the Lord about this and asked him to take it away. But his answer was: 'My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.' I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me. I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

"Cause I am hanging on every word you say And even if you don't wanna speak tonight That's alright, alright with me 'Cause I want nothing more than to sit Outside heaven's door and listen to you breathing Is where I wanna be Where I wanna be"

1 Samuel 3:1-4 "Now the young Samuel was the servant of the Lord before Eli. In those days the Lord kept his word secret from men; there was no open vision. And at that time, when Eli was resting in his place, now his eyes were becoming clouded so that he was not able to see, And the light of God was still burning, while Samuel was sleeping in the Temple of the Lord where the ark of God was, The voice of the Lord said Samuel's name; and he said, Here am I."

Samuel had God's approval, and slept in the Temple, right next to the ark of God because that is where he loved to be. Right next to God. Even though he'd never heard his voice. Kind applies to what the singer is saying eh?

"I'm looking past the shadows Of my mind into the truth and I'm trying to identify The voices in my head God, which one's you Let me feel one more time What if feels like to feel And break these callouses off me One more time"

With all the voices and distractions around us, it becomes hard to tell what God wants us to do. He's asking God to break all the calloused pieces off of him, all the walls he's built up. So that he can feel who God really is one more time.

Heb 12:1-2 "As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God's throne."

"Oh I don't want a thing from you Bet you're tired of me waiting for The SCRAPS to fall off of your table to the ground La da da da... Cause I just wanna be here now "

Matthew 15:25-28 At this the woman came and fell at his feet. "Help me, sir!" she said. Jesus answered, "It isn't right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." "That's true, sir," she answered, "but even the dogs eat the scraps that fall from their masters' table." So Jesus answered her, "You are a woman of great faith! What you want will be done for you." And at that very moment her daughter was healed.

Even though she wasn't one of God's chosen people, this woman had faith that Jesus would heal her daughter. The singer loves even to just wait for God to move, he loves the even the little things that God does for him.

Hope that made sense. I was surprised no one saw the scriptural reference. God bless you =]

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
