Don't block bad idea
You've been so good I hear
Don't rush
Don't move bad idea
You've been so still I'm here for you
Don't rush
One way or another
I'll find my way to cover
I sing to find my other
Sing to find my
One way my lovely other
They find restless cover
You sing to another
Sing to find your
Don't leave bad idea
You've been so far so long
Don't rush
Don't run bad idea
You move so fast
I need to rush
One way or another
I'll find my way to cover
I sing to find my other
Sing to find my
One way my lovely other
They find restless cover
You sing to another
Sing to find your
One way or another
I'll find my way to cover
I'd love to find my other
Love to find you
One way my lovely other
They'll find restless cover
You've loved so many others
One way to erase bad ideas
Well I won't see you once you arrive
One way to escape bad ideas
Well I won't cry to you not that you would mind
One way to erase bad ideas
Well I won't see you once you arrive
One way to escape bad ideas
Well I won't cry to you not that you would mind
One way or another
I'll find my way to cover
I sing to find my other
Sing to find my
One way my lovely other
They find restless cover
You sing to another
Sing to find your
One way or another
I'll find my way to cover
I'd love to find my other
Love to find you
One way my lovely other
They'll restless cover
You've loved so many others

You guys will get a KICK out of this. In an interview, Tegan said this song was originally called "Bad Idea" because that was the name she had the girl she was interested in listed as. And, this was her reminder to not call too much, don't rush .. have a reminder in your phone to not call her when drunk or sad or something that will rush things in that state or mind .....because it's a BAD IDEA.

I know the line: "They'll buy your restless cover (?)" is something else, I just can't tell. The last word sounds like it could be "covet," I don't know.

I'm not sure about this song at all. Is it about songwriting and having an idea flash by, but can't hold it or is it about something deeper and about relationships? lol, i'm too stupid.

I'll quote exactly what the booklet says (changes are starred): (This is literally word for word, exactly what it says)

"Don't block, bad idea, you've been so good I hear, don't rush. Don't move, bad idea, you've been so still, I'm here for you don't rush. One way or another, I'll find my way to cover, I sing to find my other, sing to find my, one way my lovely other, they find restless cover, you sing to another, sing to find your...Don't leave, bad idea, you've been so far so long, don't rush. Don't run, bad idea, you move so fast, I need to rush. One way or another, I'll find my way to cover, I sing to find my other, sing to find my...One way my lovely other, they find restless cover, you sing to another, sing to find your...One way or another, I'll find my way to cover, I'd love to find my other, love to find you, one way my lovely other, they'll find restless cover, you've loved so many others. One way to erase bad ideas, well I won't see you once you arrive. One way to escape bad ideas, well I won't cry to you, not that you would mind."

i'm not sure about this song, but i think the part i'm most curious about is "...one way my lovely other, they'll find restless cover, you've loved so many others."

what do you think she means, particularly in reference to the "you've loved so many others"?

Step
Ministry
Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
