This song is about a girl who's sick of her life and wants to get out of her life so she decides to leave her life and the boy she was dating (the singer)She's being selfish and doing what she wants and not caring about everyone She went to california to be famous and she ends up "living the good life" but she's all alone but she doesn't know it.

I think those lines mean that she can't look after herself and lacks the judgement on whether it's going to rain or not, but only possesses the basic instinct of survival of knowing when it's cold. This is further described in the chorus when Nick says: "Where did you go, when you...didn't know me. And you never wanted to figure me out." Meaning that he wonders how she survived by herself before she met him and he basically looked after her and to top it off, she had no interest in meeting someone to do...
