I'm checking your pulse
I'm giving you air
But your body disagrees
And no it don't care at all
I'm wasting my time

Now your eyes roll awake
You're looking at me
You say Darling what happened
Did I fall asleep?
And you carry me home
Cause I know I wasn't here

I'm closing your blinds
I'm shutting your eyes
And now I
I'm afraid I have to go
Whoa

I'd sing you a song
But i'm feeling quite off
In my heart
It's occupied
And now's not the time

Let's try this again
And this time don't laugh
Cause I'm working on my sentences
I'm working on my play on words
I'll get it this time

If I am a clock
Than your are the time
I'm patiently waiting
When you're out of line
And i'll be the question
If you'll be the answer

I'm closing your blinds
I'm shutting your eyes
And now I
I'm afraid I have to go
Whoa

I'd sing you a song
But i'm feeling quite off
In my heart
It's occupied
And now's not the time

If I am a clock
Than your are the time
I'm patiently waiting
When you're out of line
I'm counting the times
When you've lied to my face
My hands were full
Not a second to waste

If I am a clock
Than your are the time
I'm patiently waiting
When you're out of line
I'm counting the times
When you've lied to my face
My hands were full
Not a second to waste

I'm closing your blinds
I'm shutting your eyes
And now I
I'm afraid I have to go
Whoa

I'd sing you a song
But i'm feeling quite off
In my heart
It's occupied
And now's not the time
The time

wow this song is beautiful!.. i think in this song there probably each others first loves but it ended they're still close to each other and know they love each other but it just doesnt work when there together....she probably passed out at someones house or a party and he couldnt just leave her there so he carried her home to her bed hoping she would not awake and he could just get out before she woke up then she wakes up and is surprised to see him but happy...he realizes he just cant stay ...he just wants to tuck her in get her set and leave...well that not what he wants to do because as he stares at her tired self he just wishes with all his heart he can be with her again so in his mind hes questioning how it could work...but then the chorus kicks him which is him denying her and just realizing he just needs to leave his "reality check" but then it goes back and forth between him loving her and what he wants to do vs. what he "should" do

I think it means he was in love with his significant other at one time, but they didn't really love him. And then they're starting to fall in love with him but they're falling out of love with them; and he's trying to make it work between them. Make any sense...?

I think its about a guy trying to "revive" the life back into the relationship (first verse) but the girl is oblivious to what is happening in the relationship (2nd verse). So he wants to leave her cause he knows its not getting any better and there is another girl that is interested in him. But even though he wants to leave and this other girl is into him, he still cares so much for the girl that he cant leave her yet so he wants to wait for her to change (If I am the clock then you are the time), though he knows she wont

At first I didn't know what to think. I think the girl was dying and he loved her. Like she is sick and she doesn't know it. I think she passed out somewhere and he was trying to save her. And he's just saying that his heart is soo full with love or heartbreakness (?) that he can't manage to tell her that she is dying or something. And then when he says im afraid I have to go I think he's just telling her that she's not going to see him anymore because she is dying. Then he says I'd sing you a song but nows not the time. I think he is saying shes dying and he doesn't have a second to waste because she is almost gone.

It could also be a metaphor for their relationship coming to an end. Her being the relationship.

I agree with all the comments about it being a story. Pretty much I see a girl who has issues with partying, and alcohol probably got the best of her and she passed out. This guy who she had a relationship with before was at the same party, and he knew something was wrong. He brought her home, and tried to keep her alive, but she's not responsive. She opens her eyes finally and sees him and doesn't remember a thing. He tries to get her to go back to sleep, but she wants him to stay, as they both have feelings for eachother. He has someone new now, and things are complicated. He then remembers all the lies and bullshit she put him through and leaves because he know this isn't the right thing to do.

I also agree with everyone who thinks this song is metaphorical. "I'm checking your pulse, I'm giving you air. But your body disagrees, no it don't care at all. I'm wasting my time." Their relationship. He does everything for her, to get nothing. That's why they broke up.

"Now your eyes roll awake, you're looking at me. You say 'Darling what happened? Did I fall asleep? And you carry me home, because I know I wasn't here." She finally starts listening to him. She wants to know what happened between them that caused everything to go downhill. She wants to know how they got back to being even on speaking terms.

The rest of the song is him debating whether or not he still wants her or not, as he probably has another girl; "I'd sing you a song, but I'm feeling quite off in my heart. It's occupied. Now's not the time."

"If I am the clock, then you are the time. I'm patiently waiting when you're out of line." He's always stuck with her through everything.

"I'm counting the times you lied to my face. My hands were full, not a second to waste." He wants to be with her but he knows everything ended for a reason. And he leaves.

I can't believe there is only one other comment besides my own for this song.

It's amazing. The first time I heard it I spent like 20 minutes trying to find out who sang it; and when I finally figured it out I couldn't stop listening to it. I still can't stop listening to it. Such a beautiful song.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
