I never thought I'd be driving through the country just to drive
With only music and the clothes that I woke up in
I never thought I'd need all this time alone it goes to show
I had so much yet I had need for nothing
But you
This is just therapy
Let's call it what it is
(Not what we were)
With a death-grip on this life always transitioning
This is just therapy
Cause you won't take my calls and that makes God the only one who's left here listening
To me
Letting it all sink in
It's good to feel a sting now and again
I hope it's one less woeful thing there is to fight through
Forgetting it all begin
Fresh paper and nice expensive pen
The past can not subtract a thing from what I might do
For you
Unless that's what I let it do
Loneliness and solitude are two things not to get confused
Cause I spend my solitude with you
I gather all the questions of the things I just can't get straight
And I answer them the way I guess you'd do
Cause this is my therapy
Cause you're the only one that's listening to me
This is my therapy
Let's call it what it is not what we were
With a death-grip on this life that's in transition
This is my therapy
Cause you won't hear me out and that makes God the only one who's left here listening

Relient K is my therapy.
Matty T getting over his break up with his fiance. Sounds like he wants to explain something, but she won't even take his calls. He resigns himself to writing songs for therapy. You've gotta feel for the guy, this song is so sad. You can tell her still wants to be with her/cares about her.
I agree with SwimAndy, but i think also in song writing, he's talking about praying. often his songs are his prayers, so i think its a bit of both. my new fav of the new record.
I agree. My fave on the album, too.

I just wanted to point out that the lyrics "I never thought I'd be driving through the country just to drive, With only music and the clothes that I woke up in." refer to Matt Thiessen secluding himself from everyone for 3 months in Tennessee to write the music for this album.
Oh Shannon... I don't know what she did to Matt, but this just makes it even more sad.
I heard he was writing love songs about a girl he hadn't met yet, because, even though he cared deeply about her and loved her dearly, she wsn't the one God intended him to be with. So she takes it the wrong way and breaks off the engagement, which is probably for the best; I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter how much you love someone if you don't have God's blessing, at least in my Christian opinion. :)

I lvoe this song- mainly because it can mean soo many thing. I mean, Relient K songs can usually mean two or three things, but this is very all encompasing, and all the meanings point to the same ending. I absoulutly love it!
