Take Her Out

The song is about Alice in Chains. Take "her" out again, as in take Alice out again. The band is true to form, as in is still has it's signiture sound. Without the band he is lost. He wasn't sure if he should take the band out again, if people thought he should let it die. In the end, the only way for him to feel successful is for Alice to continue on.

Not sure if that makes sense..

To me, it almost seems like the song is not about a person. Perhaps Cantrell is referring to music or something abstract, while using a girl or "her" as a metaphor (maybe explaining "faceless, blind", and "she's not just mine"). Cantrell loves music and wants it to be a part of him and with him ("want to take her out again").

The end of the first verse goes, "aren't you getting tired of me? Whinging overdrawn", maybe explaining how music, or "her/she" is an outlet for his pain, grief, sorrow, etc.

The second verse refers to music as a double edged sword. "In a bodiless embrace, thriving I have grown," perhaps explains how his passion and love for music builds him up, helps him, and makes him stronger. Then, he says, "fickle, changing, grip replaced, choking taking on," possibly meaning how music consumes him.

Lastly, the third verse more or less supports this view on the song. "Dedicated, true to form, still the only one, only guarantee, continue after I am done," Music will always be there, it is the only passion in his life, it will be there when he is gone.

I don't know but that's my take on it. Basically describes one's passion and desire for music. Awesome song!

Seems to me like he is reffering to a female who he knows is not faithful ("She isn't just mine"), yet he still wants to take her out, or be a part of her.

I think this song is about masturbation and I'm not kidding! Think about it....

I like the stripper/hooker approach... "Only guarantee, Continue after I am done" When he's done with her and gone, she'll continue with someone else...

i think this talks about the meaninglessness of sex with a hooker or a "booty call"...just about busting a nut to get your thrill, but it doesn't make you feel any better in your life, and she doesn't embody anything else but your booty call.

It's about Jerry changing his opinion of music from something of passion to a simple money maker. Music is ever changing and definitely a fickle money maker.
