All Secrets Known Lyrics
Hope, a new beginning
Time, time to start living life
Like just before we died
There's no going back to the place we started from
Hurts, falling through fingers
Trust, trust in the feeling
There's something left inside
There's no going back to the place we started from
All secrets known
Calm, all wounds are healing
Strong, truth is worth saving
I want to feel alive
There's no going back to the place we started from
All secrets known
Time, time to start living life
Like just before we died
Trust, trust in the feeling
There's something left inside
Strong, truth is worth saving
I want to feel alive

this is probably one of the most positive alice in chains songs ever...it's about forgetting their dark drug dependant days while with layne staley and moving on
Yeah, a great track that opens an amazing album from a band that can still put out genuine studio material. I love it! Here, Cantrell and the band offer a classy display of respect for their former friend and bandmate, while simultaneously expressing the need to continue producing as musicians. Jerry needs to perform under the name "Alice In Chains." While touring as a solo artist, I saw him actually being billed under Nickelback, which is really sad... because talent all too often succumbs to generic and overrated commercialism.
I have to agree with Mike76, I feel that it is a statement that even though they have lost someone dear to them they have to move on and continue their career
look at rotten apple. its recreated and its a rebirth of the band as a whole. of course, though the new album is insanely wonderful, layne is a great part of alice in chains. they wish to preserve his inspirations, still, fuck those who arent able to understand the band without layne, he has passed, remembered, loved, and recreated
This song is amazing! It's metal, and subtle. Clearly about moving on.
it's "hope, a new beginning" not "broke".
its actually broke..hope is in other lyrics site..listen carefully

Love how the album begins with this song. Stating that their friend is gone and we as a band have to move on without him. Listening to Jerry sing this song you can tell that he is hurt and disappointed that Layne is dead and not able to be with them as a band anymore. Makes me sad when i listen to this song.
"There's no going back to the place we started from", but glad that they are still rocking it!!

@corkey Absolutely! If you have followed AIC since the 90's, this is an incredibly sad and yet uplifting song.

It breaks my heart to think of the talent and heart that died with Layne, but they can move forward and this album really showed that.

Rock on guys...rock on!
Rock on guys...rock on!
"HOPE, a new beginning. Time, time to start living LIKE just before we DIED."
and
"Calm, all wounds are healing Strong, truth is worth saving I want to feel alive"
I tink it means they want to continue on their carereer, just like before Layne died.
"There's no going back to the place we started from"
Still, it will never be the same.
"Hurts, falling through fingers Trust, trust in the feeling There's something left inside"
They still have the will in them to create music.
I love you Layne.
This song is straight from Jerry's heart. It's his official letting go of Layne and Mike and it is an incredibly emotional song. It's also a song about healing and moving forward finally. It's also a very positive song with a strong message; it's time!
It's been a heck of a long journey for the surviving original members of the band (of which there are sadly only 2). They've finally punched through and are going strong.
I'm so proud of these guys and am so happy that they've found their way forward. Jerry has done a remarkable job of executing the revival and is handling it with a huge amount of respect, and he knows that it isn't just about the band's journey, it's also about the fan's journey as well. He is respecting the fans and taking them on the journey with him.
