Blame It on the Girls Lyrics

He's got looks that books take pages to tell
He's got a face to make you fall on your knees
He's got money in the bank to thank and I guess
You could think he's livin' at ease

Like lovers of the good book show -- what's the matter
He's certain there is so much more -- what's the matter
While you're wondering what the hell to do
Are you wishing you were ugly like me?

Blame it on the girls who know what to do
Blame it on the boys who keep hitting/hating? on you

Blame it on your mother for the things she said
Blame it on your father but you know he's dead

Blame it on the girls
Blame it on the boys
Blame it on the girls
Blame it on the boys

Life could be simple but you never fail
To complicate it every single time

You could have children and a wife, a perfect little life
But you blow it on a bottle of wine

Like a baby you're a stubborn child -- what's the matter
Always looking for an axe to grind -- what's the matter
While you're wondering what the hell to do
We were wishing we were lucky like you

Blame it on the girls who know what to do
Blame it on the boys who keep hitting/hating? on you

Blame it on your mother for the things she said
Blame it on your father but you know he's dead

Blame it on the girls
Blame it on the boys
Blame it on the girls
Blame it on the boys

Life could be simple but you never fail
To complicate it every single time
You could have children and a wife, a perfect little life
But you blow it on a bottle of wine

Blame it on the girls
Blame it on the boys
Blame it on the girls
Blame it on the boys

I love this song so much. :)

Though it isn't written here, there's a spoken part at the beginning that I love. "So I was sitting there in the bar and this guy came up to me and said, 'My life stinks.' And I saw his gold credit card and I saw the way that he was looking at people across the room and I looked at his face and, you know, quite a good looking face, and I just said, 'Dude, your perspective on life sucks.'"

I think this song is about how everyone wants to be like someone else, but even the people who seem perfect have their own problems. This man is handsome, wealthy, seemingly confident with the opportunity of a perfect life right at his fingertips, but he's blowing it all because he's an alcoholic. Even worse he's [obviously] blaming the world for his problems instead of taking matters into his own hands and turning his life around.

does anyone else thinks this could be about bisexuality?

the song's pretty obvious about how this guy's rich, he's cool, he's hot, and he's single. And, he's not at ease with his life, too.

So, with the "blame it on the girls who know what to do, blame it on the boys who keep hitting on you" doesn't he means he's blaming girls and boys for attracting him equally? he may think he's life isn't easy because he can't if he's straight or gay, and he probably does not like the idea of being bisexual, or maybe he hasn't considered it.

"Blame it on your mother for the things she said, blame it on your father but you know he's dead." He tries to root the problem, and tries to blame his mother for maybe trying to match him with a girl when he was beginning to feel attracted to guys, or who knows, maybe the opposite, treating him like a daughter when he was little, so he ended up living both boy and girl roles. He's keeps blaming everyone, even his father, but then he remembers there's nothing to blame on him 'cause he's dead.

"Life could be simple but you never fail, to complicate it every single time." the answer is easy, he may like both genders, but he does not sees the idea.

"You could have children and a wife, a perfect little life," see? he could, but he also likes boys, so he wouldn't be totally happy.

Well, Mika explains the meaning of this song himself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXKadbHbj4A

It's basically about when you're a teenager and you blame everything on everyone else, not taking responsibility for your own actions. And the "poor pretty boy" mentioned in the video linked above is shown in the lines "While you're wondering what the hell to do/Are you wishing you were ugly like me?" It's sort of saying that the pretty boy of the story is so unhappy and blames all his problems on everyone else, and thinks that maybe if he's ugly, his life will be better but in reality, it's his attitude that needs to change, not his appearance.

And it's "Blame it on the boys who keep hitting on you"

hitting on you? so he's talking about gay boys? hating would make more sense

It is actually "blame it on the boys hitting on you" and yes, you could say that it is a reference to gay boys, which could be understandable within the context of the song for two reasons: Mika is a bisexual and so the idea of sexuality is fluid, and boysxboys, girlsxboys, girlsxboys isn't unreasonable, and also the fact that it is a pretty boy...

the lyrics here are wrong in the first part of the song! the correct ones:

so I was sitting there in the bar and this guy comes up to me and he said "My life stinks" and I saw his gold credit card and I saw the way that he was looking at people across the room and I looked at his face and you know, what a good looking face, and I just said, "Dude, your perspective on life sucks."

very simple to understand, the song is about someone who is always trying to complicate stuff and even thought it's his/her fault, he/she still blames it on anyone else.

he's unhappy and confused with his life but all he needs is a little appreciating it.

Also, it's money in MY bank to thank. You can hear it clearly in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLbI4bwab6s&feature=related

He distinctly says My bank. Is it partially about someone cheating on him?

i specially like the part when he sings "life can be so easy but u never fail to complicate it any single time" and it's very true. We all mostly envy the opposite of us. Black people aply lighting cream to get lighter while white people tan themselves to darken their skin colour. rich people envy the freedom normal people have, while normal people envy the easy life rich people live. Sum kids wana grow up as quick as possible while sum grown ups wish they were still young. That's how life goes!

also when he says "blame it on your mother for the ...", that bit "mo-ther-for-" makes me think he's gona say mo-ther-fu-kr. lol

Ithink its about someone (teen or adult) who has a pretty good life but he continues to blame his problems on everyone else and refuses to take responasibility for anything

At the beginning its talking about a girl who is looking at a guy who has anything and everything. And the girl thinks she should be like the person who is singing/writing this song to get the guy.

Then it goes from one gender to the next just indirectly telling audience that blaming the opposite sex for everything is pretty stupid. I love this song.
