From what i have heard, Mika wrote this song because he was annoyed that different record labels wanted him to sound to be more like the stereotypical pop style. Ironically, a year later it was after hearing this song that he was signed onto a record label.

It was pretty much his way of sticking two fingers up at all the record lables who turned him down. I do find it sad that things like that happen, to say that becuase a talent is different to current means its no go is rubbish! if we didn't have new changing talent, then we would be stuck with a massive bum vibe in music for the next 300 years! I think it's like a mixture of Queen and Scissor Sisters - definitely love it though! The Freddie reference definitely ups the Queen link.
