This song seems to be about a person who falls in love with someone, and they become a couple. Soon, something happens that makes the main character turn against his love, and plots revenge towards her. At the end, he leaves her behind.
Very emotional and powerful song, one of my favorites on Endgame.

I agree with you megadeth91768. And he says that his wife Pam didnt like the song. I presume he change some parts of the lyric and added sealed with a kiss with it. That made one of the best songs ever created!
Close on Poe's story, "The Cask of Amontillado." But a better fit would be Poe's "The Black Cat," since this story is about a woman that he killed and kept her in immurement in his celler. In "The Black Cat" the narriator kills out of rage, while in the "The Cask of Amontillado," the narriator kills out of revenge. I don't think this makes for a good love song. I would not recomend putting this song on a mix tape for a girl.

This may not be the meaning but to me it means something along the lines of a Man meeting a woman, falling for her (but not her falling for him). Then she meets someone else before he can do anything and he waits patiently waiting and hoping for her relationship fails so he can get another chance. Although he realizes that he should just give up on her and let her go be with another person and not to hope for her relationships to fail so he can get another chance that wont be taken.
That's just what it seems to me though.
