Slow Your Breath Down Lyrics
This chest is full of memories
Of gold and silver tears
I'll give you more to own than
All of this
And I'll give you more than years
For you were once a child of
Innocence
And I see you just the same
Your burdens couldn't win or
Lose a thing
Oh, I'd tell you once
Again
But you're always on
The run
Slow your breath down
Just take it slow
Find your heart now, oh
You can trust and love again
Slow your breath down, just take it slow
Find your smile now, oh
You can trust and love again
If you leave I'll still be close to you
When all your fears rain down
I'll take you back a thousand times again
I'll take you as my own
I would sing you songs of innocence
'Til the light of morning comes
'Til the rays of gold and honey
Cover you
In the sweetness of the dawn
But you're always on the run
You're not alone
You're now a part of me
You feel the cure
I'll find the toil it brought you
Of gold and silver tears
I'll give you more to own than
All of this
And I'll give you more than years
For you were once a child of
Innocence
And I see you just the same
Your burdens couldn't win or
Lose a thing
Oh, I'd tell you once
Again
But you're always on
The run
Just take it slow
Find your heart now, oh
You can trust and love again
Slow your breath down, just take it slow
Find your smile now, oh
You can trust and love again
When all your fears rain down
I'll take you back a thousand times again
I'll take you as my own
I would sing you songs of innocence
'Til the light of morning comes
'Til the rays of gold and honey
Cover you
In the sweetness of the dawn
But you're always on the run
You're now a part of me
You feel the cure
I'll find the toil it brought you

First of all, everyone needs to know about FOF. They're such an awesome band.
As for this song, I take it as a plea from God to just slow down your life from all the things we are running to and come back to Him. He will not only forgive, but actually remove our burdens. He has power over sin, and humbly relying on Him is the only way we can have the strength to overcome our sin and guilt. He wants to help us so bad if we'll just stay close to Him!
I love this band so much, and this is one of my favorite songs by them. I think its about how he's going through something, maybe he's lost something important. He feels he can never love or trust again, he's hurt. I see this as God telling him to relax, because its going to be alright, and that He's there for him no matter what. And it will get better. No matter what he does He will still love him, and will always be there to accept him as if he were an innocent, because He loves him. I'm going through something right now, I lost something important and this song means much to me. Its gives me hope, that one day I will be able to trust and love again, and the hurt won't last forever.
all the previous comments say this is about God but I think its about Anxiety. Like a song to sing for comfort if someone is in an panic episode.
"find your heart now, oh" This can be something to bring the person back to reality.
"When all your fears rain down I'll take you back a thousand times again I'll take you as my own" A personification of Anxiety
While I can see the angle of god speaking to him as a very solid interpretation of the song I like to see it in a different light.
I feel it just perfectly captures the importance of accepting other people as human, that we are still the children we were born as and not above mistakes. The importance and the greatness of forgiveness for both the offended and the offender. His last line gives me a chill because I can't help but relate it to the idea of both parties expressing there soul to the fullest and understanding each other.
I'm not Christian, but I fully support Jesus' message of forgiving others and loving them instead of growing angry at there trespasses.
@Cmcwill09 i appreciate your sharing your interpretation. I am a follower of Christ... I try to live according to His commands and tenets. However, as you pointed out, we are ALL born into brokenness. \r\n\r\nThe beauty i am compelled to share with you is this: "we are called to love people right where they are when they enter into our life-circle, but we are compelled to love them (you) too much to leave then there!"\r\n\r\nWhat that means to me, is this. I appreciate your perspective; I agree it applies thusly to your context, but, ...

I appreciate your perspective; I agree it applies thusly to your context, but, i go to the point that this forgiveness is offered from a Devine perspective as well... He, Jesus = God, forgives us... you. He\'s just a gentleman and allows you to choose to ask Him to apply it to you. \r\n\r\nI believe this song, chat, etc exists to give you that opportunity right now. \r\n\r\nHope, Matt
We don't gain anything by carrying burdens around only to say at the end "I've been carrying this hurt all my life and I demand compensation for it", so it's better to give it to God. His grace is sufficient for all our mistakes and makes us new again. He has more to give us than we could ever give to him (memories and tears). We're never too busy to spend time with God. We either make time, or He will for us, even if that means destroying our sense of security in something that isn't him. But he always does so in the perfect way to reach us. For some of us it's like a bandaid, for others it's gentle.
It's a song of acceptance. A song of forgiveness. A song of God's never-ending grace.
"Slow your breath down, just take it slow." Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God..."
You're not alone, you're now a part of me. John 15:4 "Remain in me, and I will remain in you..."
You'll feel the cure, I'll feel the toil that brought you. Is 53:3,4,5 "He was despised and rejected– a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care. Yet it was our weaknesses He carried; it was our sorrows that weighed Him down. And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for His own sins! But He was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed."
No matter what I've done, He welcomes me with open arms and calls me His own. He wipes away all I've done and claims ME as His son!
