Fell Into Your Shoes Lyrics

Somehow we're sent by fools
No better when we're lost
I fell into your shoes
But only one

Hoping to be shown
A leaner curfew
Hopeful senseless sins
Gathering clues
Weaving into
Feeding off the youth

Somehow we're sent by fools
No better when we're lost
I fell into your shoes
But only one

The skies are overwhelmed
Another teacher
Heads for higher ground
Gathering clues
Weaving into
Feeding off the youth

Closing chapters tell of
A final virtue
Pay for healing as
Eyes go hollow
Weaving into
We bring this to you

I fell into your shoes
But only one

Here's what I got. I believe the song is talking about the Heaven's Gate cult scandal. The cult believed that a UFO would come to get them if they took there lives by poisoning themselves. Some of the members did not participate and left. The survivors tell there story through the lyrics. "Somehow we're lead by fools"-talking about the leaders of the cult. " no better when we're lost"-the cult did alot of traveling. They were told to leave behind loved ones break all communications. "I fell into your shoes...but only one"-commenting that they followed to a certain extent with only one foot in the cult world but one foot out enough to not participate in the mass suicide. "chapter tells of a final virtue"-explaining the cults end of the world plan. I think the cover kind of interprets that story too. It was in a way a sci Fi crime.

My Interpretation

It's weird Sci-Fi Crimes lyrics, are so complicated, yet the meanings are so simple. I don't know for this song. Some other guy's gonna probably totally understand this and I'll be like "Oh yeah, Duh, Stupid Me" lol

This song seems like a step away from the usual Chevelle. It's still very good and takes a few listens to enjoy.

Reading it, I believe this song can be construed in a million different ways, but I'm going to give it a shot. This to me seems like its about a boy enlisting in the Army. I'm going to use the first stanza as an example:

"Somehow we're sent by fools" United States government going to war?

"No better when we're lost" We are all not sure what to believe by the media, our government, et al.

"I fell into your shoes" Could possibly be his father, grandfather etc enlisting in the military?

"But only one" Army of "one?"

this song was based on a family from chevelle's hometown who were taking hostage and tortured

How has no one else discovered this?

funeraldancer just writes random stuff for each of Chevelle's new songs. It's pretty hilarious if you ask me, because I think funeraldancer knows people have a hard time interpreting Pete's lyrics, so he just posts really random thoughts on his songs and sees if people rolls with it... And you were punk'd manpile. Either that, or funeraldancer is really trying to interpret the lyrics, and I feel really bad because the results are just terrible. =P

This song struck me with many similarities to the Ayn Rand novel, "Atlas Shrugged". I'll base this off the thinking you've the read the book, because you really should. Minor spoilers ahead, but I'll try to keep them at a minimum and warn you ahead of time.

Immediately, the refer to being "sent by fools", and in the book a lot of government types apply a lot of measures to hamstring the captains of industry, and with control of the media (for the most part, not to spoil anything) society has been mislead and been "Sent" to disaster and failure by the "fools" (being the government leaders).

The "gathering clues", "hoping to be shown", and the "only one" refer to the main character (Dagny) to her search for John Galt's hideaway. Throughout the book Dagny searches for the elusive Galt, "gathering clues" as it were, and all the while "hoping to be shown". The "only one" of course refers to Galt in this.

Yet another line that (admittedly) initially spurred this entire line of thinking is the "another teacher/heads for higher ground" verse. In the book, many great minds of industry and science begin to disappear from public view. (spoiler alert) In this sense, those who are advancing science/industry/engineering/etc etc and "teaching" society begin to "head for higher ground" both literally and figuratively. Literally in the sense they join John Galt in his mountain hideaway, and figuratively in the sense they take a higher moral ground over the government types that attempt to control their advances and ideas.

Finally, the lines: "Pay for healing as/Eyes go hollow/Weaving into/We bring this to you" feel like they refer to the final part of the book as (reminder, we are still in spoiler mode here) when Dagny gives up the entirety of her railroad (the price for healing in this case), and when she adorns Taggart's statue with the dollar sign (Galt's makeshift logo)I always envisioned her "eyes going hollow" (losing all faith in the government), as she struggled to give up her company. As for the "Weaving into/We Bring this to you" lies, it refers to her joining Galt's Cabal in the mountains. Not only is she integrating swiftly into his society by envisioning/implementing her ore transport system to the colony, thereby supporting the line "weaving into", but she is also bringing her talents to Galt's makeshift society (We bring this to you). As for the "We" in the previous line, I think it refers not only to Dagny herself but her assistant Eddie Willers. Although he does not join Galt's group, he is extremely loyal to Dagny and helps deliver her to Galt.

Just my two cents, sadly not proofread.

Excellent!

This song is about someone who is dealing with a divorce that has led them to raise him/herself, thus falling into the nature of the parent they are most like, cause the nurture was learned via school multimedia and a lack of potential influence (i fell into your shoes but only one/gathering clues etc.)

With that in mind, you can fill in the details) :-)
