Mexican Sun Lyrics

Soon the stares catch
We begin to kill the calm as we
feed on the facts
Let's give in
Let's give in to give in more

Still on the knees
Such a shame
The cat's up and run away
Scratched at me first
Then the boy
Gonna panic for a little more

Watch the tail boy
Watch the tail

(Chorus)
Like to be feeling the sand bring color
back to both my arms the sun
Let it do damage like they said it would if given chance
Had to be shouting your voices
Scheming devils never make it through
Hey way to go lad
Hey way to go
(Can't wait to go)

Closing out all my tabs
Tighten down the pitiful
Leave you a pen
Write it down
Or you know what you can do with that

Watch that tail boy
Watch the tail

(Chorus)

Let's let the panic bloom
Could help us all end up in the clear
Then let the havoc choose
To shape us all, push us to invent
We can feed off shame all day
We could feed off shame all day

It's about some sort of prophecy from the Messianic people about the sun and how they lived in nature and were part of it and respected and protected it and how modern societies have raped the land and act unconsciously toward mother earth.. we are killing the embryonic bubble of earth and the sun will have no mercy. - this is an interpretation I read someone posted on youtube and think it might be spot on.

My Interpretation

This song is pretty good. Looking at the lyrics it sounds like a person giving away all they have and doing so, because they have no idea of what's good for themselves. Realizing you can't do everything for everyone is hard, especially when you want to ignore it. Feeding off your shame if what you have to do if you keep doing nothing and everything at the same time.

now that I think about it, it sounds more like "then the boy got a pennant for a little more"

I'm pretty sure that in the first verse he says, "The cat's up and run away," which would make sense as the next line says, "scratched at me first."

i gotta say, i liked our interpretations of lyrics better.... But whatever, ya know?

lol WATCH THE TAIL!

Dude I know what you mean like in shameful metaphors "behold the lost, Behold a band-aid" WTF lol

yeah dude, I was wtf'ing when I read that

Yeah that almost ruins the song for me lol behold hope and gain would've been much better

after reading the lyrics a few times through I think this song is about how the world would react to the end of the world. and the end of the world is because of the sun "the sun let it do damage like they said it would if given chance" and it is explaining how we had warnings and it is our own fault that the world is coming to an end, but i could be wrong...by the way this is the greatest band ever!

Song Meaning

THAT SOUNDS CORRECT! Mexican Sun could be a reference to the 2012 prophecy, how the Mayan (in Mexico) civilization thought because of alignments in the sun and moon (calendar) would end in 2012. This sounds like a sci-fi crime to me.

I think you guys got the right idea. That was what I was thinking.

I think anthonymed had this right for the most part. This song is about how party-goers (particularly male) can be pathetic.

They go to bars/clubs and "begin to kill the calm." They give in to drinking which lends themselves more to the lewd behavior. ("give in to give in more")

The cat in this case is a girl one of them was trying to pick up at the club, who probably slapped him for saying something offensive ("scratched at me first"). Watching "the tail" is like watching her leave the club, walking out on them. He's saying "way to go boy" sarcastically because the boy offended her and ruined any chances of hooking up with her. The boy in this case is also a "scheming devil" in in that he was trying to take advantage of her, they "never make it through."

The name "Mexican Sun" refers to how such types of people will take trips to Mexico because they think they can get away with party activities that are deemed illegal in the United States. In the chorus, they are on the beach, again being 'macho' and not caring if the sun burns their skin.

What I take from it: You party, smoke, drink, and abuse your body when you are young and as you age the consequences of your actions start to show like baking in the mexican sun. Over a period of time, it will cause skin cancer and/or accellerated deterioration of your body. Its like a credit card! Charge it now and have fun now but you will pay for it later. Ha!
