Is This Tomorrow? Lyrics
...
As children grab their guns and line up to die, doll
And our hollow headlines, oh they just prove to warn
Yeah, calling in the time's read today*
If you're not confused then you're not really...
You don't need to see something to know it needs to change
It must be easy to believe in nothing
Turn around and walk away
Oh, oh
This silence echoes, the joke is never grasped
God's a comedian, playing to an audience too scared to laugh
...on every paper's page
Oh, but everyone's exactly the same
And the differences are all in the names
Oh, you don't need to see something to know it needs to change
It must be easy to believe in nothing
Turn around and walk away
Ohh
No one ever wins...and it begins
Something that you can't escape
Oh no
Is there really time for this?
Are there any songs worth singing?
I go back and forth with this
And leave it for another day
I leave it for another day
I leave it for another day
You don't need to see
You don't need to see something
Oh, no
As children grab their guns and line up to die, doll
And our hollow headlines, oh they just prove to warn
Yeah, calling in the time's read today*
If you're not confused then you're not really...
It must be easy to believe in nothing
Turn around and walk away
Oh, oh
God's a comedian, playing to an audience too scared to laugh
...on every paper's page
Oh, but everyone's exactly the same
And the differences are all in the names
It must be easy to believe in nothing
Turn around and walk away

I leave it for another day
I leave it for another day
You don't need to see something

This song is so good but im so confused. I feel like its saying he media is ridiculous and gives out inaccurate information. So we shoukdnt listen to the media; you need to go out and see something for yourself to see if its real or whats going on there. But the chorus would contradict this interpretation, because it says you dont need to see something to know it needs a change. I agree with this line, but i also disagree. I disagree under the interpretation that this song has to do with false info from the media, because then you WOULD need to see something in real life to get the right ideas about it. However, under different circumstances, i agree because you shouldnt have to get every little piece of info about a place or thing to know that you should take action and attempt to fix/vhange it. I dont know. I am very confused by this, but that is why i love as tall as lions. Their songs make you think, unlike all the ridiculous mainstream songs that everyone listens to and thinks is amazing.ugh.
Oh and another thing that makes me think its about the ridiculous media that is force fed to everyone is the title. Is this tomorrow? This implies that we dont even know whats real or not anymore because most people unfortunately believes everything the media says.
Your knowledge of the world is finite. I don't think the human brain would have the capacity to experience all the information of all the other brains in the world and store it all at once and it's own. :) That would be difficult. That's my interpretation of the inherent contradictions in this song.
"You don't need to see something to know it needs to change may refer for the inability for people to have first hand experience of the suffering outside their immediate or personal vicinity to know it needs to change."
It's why we prioritize local empathy over empathy to a picture or video or text.
It's evolution.
It's why we laugh at people who believe in the potential of global peace.
No one ever wins...and it begins Something that you can't escape Oh no
